Hi there,

Today I played against VC and massacred him! His Blood Knights with character charged my Abomination and I won the combat and only his character survived. Next round I charged my Vermin lord in his character and the character died :).
This is off-topic but I had to share it :).

OK, on-topic. He miscated and I could cast one of my own spells -> mmm hard choice.... I casted the 13th spell on his skellies with a vampire in it. There were 16 models in the unit excl. his vampire. I threw 16. He threw 6 on his "look out sir" roll so he was the only one left.
What will happen now?

Is the unit destroyed and I get 16 skaven, or because the vampire stood in the unit, he "only" got 16 kills and the Vampire is on his own?

Greetz,

while a character is in a unit he is considered part of the unit... if he had 16 skels and a character in there and you rolled 16 you just kill 16 models... if you had rolled 17 then :D

the skels dont mutate they just die cause the whole unit hasnt died.

I dont understand how he gets a look out sir roll to begin with as it is not a shooting or template attack, ie not a missle weapon. So he was cheating or just didint read the rules for look out sir correctly and I advise you to correct him.

Never the less though if any model that was part of the unit is left you would get no clanrats as the heroic character butchers them all I guess.

Do you think, that every time a Plague Monk pees, he takes a S2 hit?

no look out sir is needed or avaidable against this spell, much like plague and wither and so many more. these spells target all models in the unit, in teh case of the 13th its his choice (i think) wich models to remove, so in a unit of 16+Vamp he could remove the 16 and leave the vamp standing, or remove the vamp and 15+ to have hiss banner/champ/musician/generic model. while nobody in their right minds would do something like that, they have the option regardless.
It would be ugly to watch people poking sticks at a caged rat. It is uglier still to watch rats poking sticks at a caged person.

I would say he doesn't choose which models are left it goes on the same as if you killed 16 in combat, removing rnf then champions and characters.

What rules basis do you have for this? That's certainly not the way you remove casualties from any other spell. No, you remove models from the unit as per any other spell, owning player's choice.

Your oppponent would get to choose which model is left, that would be his version of a free lookout sir ;)

Oh, I dont know. Being ratmen, im sure we could do it somehow. After all, arent we renowned for our plans failing miserably even in the face of overwhelming victory?
You kids these days have it so easy, what with your Plague Furnaces and your Hellpit Abominations and your Bonebreaker Warlords. Back in MY day, all we had was Slaves and Clanrats!...and auto-hit Ratling Guns...and skirmishing Jezzails...and 2D6 Warp Lightning...and Lead From The Back...wait, what was my arguement again?

The way some of my dice rolls go, I think they could definitely pull off a three.

"One, One, One and... wait a minute one is stacked on top of the other, I guess you loose 3, god my dice suck"
