Hello, Having picked up the new Skaven army book got me exited and back into warhammer once more. However after reading the description of the Doomwheel and some internet fora's where it is said that the Doomwheel can cause massive havoc among units I have some questions about it. First of all. How exactly does the Zzzzap! ability work? I thought that in every friendly shooting turn the Doomwheel unleashes three bolts of lightning. You have to work out every bolt seperately because when it kills a unit the next bolt will target the unit that is closest at that moment. The thing I am wondering about is the amount of damage the bolt does on a unit. When it hits and wounds a multiwound target (like a giant, varghulf etc) it causes D6 wounds instead of the normal one, but what about Rank and File units? They only have one wound so the wounds aren't multiplied into D6 wounds and you can kill a maximum of one model with a single bolt, or am I missing something? The other question I have is about the Grinding down the Foe rule. In it's description it says that at the beginning of each round of close combat in which the Doomwheel itself did not charge it will do D3 automatic S6 hits against one enemy unit in base contact. When the Doomwheel is charged, will those attacks go before the chargers get to strike? I am kinda wondering about this since it has to ability to destroy cavalery units even before the combat starts (personal experience: Two units of marauder horsemen charged the Doomwheel (one in the flank), the Doomwheel makes his grinding attack, destrying three horsemen on the flank. No longer having the flank bonus and three S6+ three S3 attacks less caused me to lose the combat, being zzzzapped the turn after). Anyone who can clarify this for me? Cheers. |

zzzap only kills 3 models at most. multi woundmodels are what the thing is made to hunt. On a side note my understanding of grinding down the foe is that the wheel starts spinning trying to push on through the troops, while ridiculously overpowered I think it would be fluffy if it didn't get grinding down the foe on the flank or rear, but could elect to leave combat on its movement phase. |

the doomwheel can potentially kill up to 3 models a turn this can be anything from 3 slaves, to 3 dragons. it can never kill more than 3. yes the attacks happen at the beginning of combat. you'll have to 4+ against anything else that also happens 'beginning of combat' there are a couple other things. |

Zzzap can at most kill 3 models as has been stated. As a side note, you only roll the Artillery Dice ONCE, not three times. Don't make the mistake of thinking you have the chance to misfire three times a turn. Grinding Down the Foe does occur at the beginning of combat. These are effectively more impact hits so they do, as far as I can tell, go before chargers and the like. |
