As to the Irresistable force question:

Page 107 in the BRB pretty explicitly says that any pair of 6's automatically cast the spell, and it cannot be dispelled. There is no mention of casting value whatsoever.

There are two exceptions (to my knowledge), Teclis, and Book of Hoeth.  Both specify that they are different in text.

Some people may be confused because High Elves have an item that lets them cast irresistable force on any double. However in the rules for the item it states that they still have to reach the base casting cost of the spell. This however only applies to High Elves and no one else. Go double six's!

(mutate)I forgot to mention, I got CotHR off once, thanks to an enemy's miscast. I rolled a 22, and saw 20 Lizardmen Temple guard disappear leaving their Slann sadly unprotected. Dev

I used it at the tourney I attented yesterday. Turned a lone Alter Highborn into a clanrat. After the match I learned he had a Spirit Sword which could 've killed my Bell and Furnace easily. How blessed by the Horned Rat I must vee been.

Unless you're a goblin hero.

Remember, you can always chose not to use it.

I know it's voluntary, but no one in their right mind would be using it against goblins, so it won't be irritating the Gobbo player.

the slann should have been turned aswell as he was thr #21 model in the unit. he was in a an infantry unit thus he was a legal target.
It would be ugly to watch people poking sticks at a caged rat. It is uglier still to watch rats poking sticks at a caged person.
