Ok, I don't have my book yet but I've been told that there are no pictures depicting how these new 'toys' fit into a unit. I guess the Plague Furnace is on a chariot base? 100x60? Can we place the furnace in the corner of a unit? What if I kitbash the model to be sideways (think: wrecking crane)? So even if I can't put it in the corner, only 13 monks would have to test with a sideways mod. [M][M][pf][pf][pf][pf][pf] Example a (sideways mod, corner position) [M][M][pf][pf][pf][pf][pf] 7x5, 20 monks [M][M][pf][pf][pf][pf][pf] = 9 monks test, Mus+Stnd in front row [M][M][m][m][m][m][m] (Furnace modded to be sideways) [M][M][m][m][m][m][m] [M][M][pf][pf][pf][M][M] Example b (no mod, center position) [M][M][pf][pf][pf][M][M] 7x5, 20 monks [M][M][pf][pf][pf][M][M] = 10 monks test, full command +1 in front row [M][M][pf][pf][pf][M][M] [M][M][pf][pf][pf][M][M] [M][M][M][pf][pf][pf] Example c (no mod, corner position) [M][M][M][pf][pf][pf] 6x6, 20 monks [M][M][M][pf][pf][pf] = 8 monks test, full command in front row [M][M][M][pf][pf][pf] [M][M][M][pf][pf][pf] [M][M][M][m][m] Or am I way off on this? Would a LEGAL unit of 30 monks with a Furnace HAVE to look something like this: [M][M][pf][pf][pf][M][M] Example d (no mod, center position) [M][M][pf][pf][pf][M][M] 7x7, 30 monks [M][M][pf][pf][pf][M][M] = 15 monks test, full command +1 in front row [M][M][pf][pf][pf][M][M] [M][M][pf][pf][pf][M][M] [M][M][m][m][m][M][M] [M][M][m] I'd love to be able to stick it in the corner and only have to test 9 monks for the gas. |

Unfortunately it specifies that you must place the furnace/bell as center in the unit as possible so the last one is correct. On another note the furnace comes with its own new base that is 60x100 instead of the 50x100 chariot base. |

If you really want the furnace on a flank, run the unit 4 wide. The unit's unbreakable, so there's no huge need to have ranks in the unit. |

If you want to avoid all those toughness tests, just don't give the plague priest a plague censer. It's a common misconception that the plague furnace causes all models in base contact to take a toughness test, this is untrue. Every unit in contact takes D6 toughness tests, that is all. |
