Hi there,

I got a question on the shooting from the doomwheel.
Can or can it not affect more than one model per shoot?

I thought it will suffer W6, but does this mean I can kill 6 units per hit on one unit?
friends of mine think it can't but this would mean I sucks against bigger units, as i can only kill 3 goblins.

pls help me :)

The Doomwheel fires three shots, so it can only kill 3 models. It's for killing monsters, not nuking entire units. That's what it's big wheels are for :P

it can cause 3 individual wounds. if these wounds are inflicted on a multiple wound model they then expand as per the rules on page 31

On the other hand, it could also kill an Orc Warboss with one burst, then roast his Wyvern with the remaining two.

The Zzzzzap can only affect, at most 3 models per turn. So yeah if the closest target is a cheap unit it's going to be very under-impressive, however if the closest target is a lone character or some kind of massive monster... well, things are about to get interesting.

Quiet, I'm plotting.

Or a chariot. Roll high enough and the warplightning is deadly against chariots.

I killed three in one shooting phase with my Doomwheel last weekend. Nasty.

i saw some people say that you roll once for all bolts, but as i read the entry i can clearly see a part saying :
"Each warp lightning bolt has a range of 18" range and will 2strike the nearest unit (friend or foe), regardless of terrain and line of sight. Roll for each bolt separately, measuring from the doomwheel's base."
in my opinion this clearly means 3 artillery dice per face and means the thing goes out of control a bit easier than one would like..

Thats the rolls for each bolt to wound, Rik. Two paragraphs down it tells you to roll once to determine the str of all bolts that turn. When the bolts connect they each wound separately and thus will multiply separately.

This is incorrect. The entry clearly states in the third paragraph of the Zzzzap entry that to determine the power of the warp lightning that you roll ONE artillery dice and that is strength of all of the bolts fired. You only roll separately to wound, not to determine the strength. So, no, you don't have 3 chances to misfire every turn.

The key is that a shooting unit must direct all attacks against a single target according to the BRB. The purpose of the first paragraph is to support the fact that you don't roll all your shooting at once. You roll up in front of your opponents multi-wound single models and the first attack is directed at the nearest. If that blows up then the second attack is actually directed at the second nearest unit instead of being wasted on the one already killed.

There's a second sentence in the Doomwheel covering the same thing which makes this wording redundant but it's really there for a reason that makes sense. :)

Mutate: Too early in the morning for good typing so there be typos to fix.
