no no no - you are going to trade +3 ranks and give them the flank bonus so you can use a magic banner???

just stick the bsb on the corner of the unit so only 2 people can attack him
Daniel cannot possibly exist in a dimensional state.

Recent studies show that people who have attempted to comprehend Daniel have either disappeared, died spontaneously, or driven themselves into a pertinent state of insanity and/or catatonia.

Pestilent Lord is actually correct as it is not a shooting attack as it is done much like the gas from censers, doing one auto hit to each model in base contact. In combat you are considered to be in base contact with both the mount and riders/hero otherwise only the mount could attack. The BotUE on the other hand would randomize as it is distributed as shooting.

No it is only one hit on each enemy model in base to base contact. The stegadon with all of its crew and skink priest on top is still only one model. Thus it would take one hit which would be randomized. Just like the spells steal soul or buboes, which inflict one wound on an enemy model. Those spells are not a shooting attack and they dont get to inflict a wound on each part of the model. It was also faq'ed that when those spells hit a mulit part model, it would randomize onto a part as normal. So imo, the banner would get to inflict one hit onto the stegadon which would be randomized as normal.

Sorry to say u cant do it, no character may join an unbreakable unit according to the BRB. So if theres a bell there u cant put another char in there

@Fodder: page reference? p53 (Unbreakable rules) says nothing about characters being unable to join. Atleast on a cursory glance.
Can't see anything about it on pg72-4 (Characters & Units) either.

How do they rise up?

pg 79 small section right below the picture.

however for the bell you can put a BSB in there, for the furnace you can't.

characters and their mounts are deployed simultaneously. and the bell says it makes the grey seer and the unit pushign it unbreakable. this would include any other characters placed in the unit with it. it might be a technicality but it works. this can also only be done during deployment a model can't join the unit during the game to gain unbreakable since they must already have it to join the unit.

however the plague furnace only says that it makes the plague priest and plague monks pushing it unbreakable so doesnt cover any other characters like the bell does.

@Glod: Page 79. Right under the Unbreakable bold title. Just above Mounts' Psychology.

{Mutate: Well damn, sneaky Stripsteak got to it before me. Ah well....mine's more detailed >.> *sends assassin*}

{Mutate: However, due to Queek's rule I would agree with Stripsteak that a characters can join the pushing unit but only in deployment.}

Ah I see it. ^_^ thanks for pointing that out.

Well, as characters are deploy simultaniously there is nothing to stop you putting your BSB in the unit at the same time as the unit is not Unbreakable at the time of adding the character. (so weird writing that instead of "charratter").
Sure, it's a bit of rules jockeying but I think it's an acceptable one in terms of fluff. No General worth his salt would go into battle without his battle standard near-by.

Also, the Grey Seer might like to have his trusted (well...) assassin hidden in the same unit. I suppose that aught to be allowed, since they join "simultaneously" during deployment.

Yep, from recent faqs it seems that most wounds done in the close combat phase count towards combat res.
