So, Im currently putting together a soundtrack to play my games too, as the right songs can really inspire me! Then I got interested in what songs everybody else like to play their games too? maybe theres a story attatched? Heres what I have so far:

iron Maiden - Run to the hills. My Dwarves managed to break alot of Goblin units to this track.
Limp Bizkit - My Generation
Deathstars - Blitzkrieg
Rage Against The Machine - Killing In the name of
Trivium - Gunshot to the head of trepidation
Coheed and Cambria - Welcome Home, In keeping secrets of silent earth, Gravemakers and Gunslingers
Led Zeppelin - Black Dog
AC/DC - warmachine

Not a typo mate. I liked the name Blitz inadvertantly gave him.

Hmm... it’s hard to differentiate music I think is good for fighting with music that I think is good... well, how about:
Well, that’s me for the moment... if I think of anything else I’ll let you know ;)

What about finding what your opponents like listening to and put that on?

Kalisia - Cybion. It's a 4 act metal opera. And i'll be blasting it round next time, i get a game.

sabaton. some of their stuff is more contemplative, and there's quite a bit of history in their songs, but stuff like back in control, metal crue, and primo victoria are great songs.

also, rick rolled, nice been a while since that happened.

Bunny ear says flop

For some reason, either the amount of metal fans (in whatever variant) amongst Warhammer Fantasy players is really high, or people are a bit afraid of 'falling out of the group' when not listing one of such bands. Then again, it's simply not my genre, so it might very well be that I don't get the idea of... that kind of music (how Skaven-like politically correct am I now, right? :P ) to be played while trying to concentrate on a game. I guess that's the fun part of topics such as this one (which returns every once in a while), cause it shows what people not simply fancy as favourite music genres/ bands, but also when trying to win a game.

I, personally, tend to favour soundtracks. The one from the Animatrix is one that keeps returning during games with mates of mine, together with a DVD of a concert of Beef and otherwise the soundtracks from the Lord of the Rings movies are quite nice... On the other hand, music from The Offspring, or the Foo Fighters (to name a few) seems to work quite well for me to get me a bit 'hyped' during a game.

Mutate:
Oh, for the love of the Horned One... Rick Rolled is a hype. Nothing more, nothing less. Aside from the fact that it's one of the worst songs surviving the 80s, it's not funny and definitely not cool. (Especially since they did it during some sort of Christmas/ Thanksgiving parade).

Greetz (again)
In the Horned One we trust, all others we monitor.

When me and my gf play, it's usually to the Dawn of War 2 soundtrack or one of her metal playlists. Personally I prefer Industrial, more fitting to a Skaven army I think.

I was thinking about this the other day actually, what music best fits Skaven?

Music I play to is generally movie soundtracks.

The Star Wars movies, for a start the tracks 'Anakin vs Vader' from Episode VI, Darth Maul vs Kenobi/Qui Gon from Episode I and the perfect 'Anakin's Betrayal/Order 66' from episode III really stand out.

Also tracks from Armageddon (especially 'Shuttle Crash'), Day After Tomorrow, Aliens, Chronicles of Narnia, The Abyss and Independance Day....gah, there are dozens I have on my iPod that have accompanied my Skaven into Battle.

My gaming friends nearly always play metal when we're over at their houses, reinforcing Vinz'a observation that seemingly most GW players favour this style of music above all else.

*mutate*

Nearly forgot, a number of decent tracks can be found from games too - such as Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Gears of War, Call of Duty, Phantasy Star Online and so on.

I'll have to look into some of those. I tend to also favor soundtracks, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Babylon 5 being among those I play to. But also, you should try a little Wagner sometime. There's nothing quite like declaring charges to "Ride of the Valkyries" :)

I mostly listen to classical music, but a couple I'd recommend:
Duel of the Fates (Starwars episode 1)
Winter from Vivaldi's Four Seasons.

I'll think of more and get back to you.

It kinda depends what army you are playing.
For Warriors of Chaos there can't be a better band then Immortal. Frost, North, Daemons, Warriors, Death..it's all there.

Otherwise:

Amon Amarth: Viking themed metal. Good battle like music (try the song Asator) which is actually enjoyed by many.
Some people like power metal, personally I think it sucks (how politically incorrect is that Vince :P) but the themes are good most of the time.
