I agree that Characters in the unit rettain the loss in toughness, even when leaving the unit. I also agree that any new models raised into the unit would match the stat line of the rest of the unit (resulting in them being lower on toughness also). Otherwise the spell would have little effect because any of the newer 'tougher' units could be moved to the front rank and require extreme micromanaging of what toughness was where, in the unit. --Cap |

There isn't any "majority toughness" rule in fantasy like in 40k? |

i'm on the it only affects the current models side. you target it at a unit as a whole, but the spells says the toughness of the models in the unit is reduced. It's not a RiP spell this is a one time affect spell that happens to the models that are currently in the unit, and not the models that might enter the unit later. either via raising or an external character. it's pretty simple to keep track of which models have reduced toughness i think someone suggested earlier just have the new raised models face a different direction. the spells specifically raises models(non command) into the rear of the unit anyway, and there is nothing in the rules that allow you to freely reform your unit structure so if they want to spend a whole movement doing a full reform to get the higher toughness models in front then that is fine with me. |

The word "currently" is not in the Wither rules at all, nor any synonyms. It states that "The Toughness value of all the models in the unit is reduced by -1" and that "The effects last for the rest of the game...". Ok. First of all we will ignore the fact that a reduction of -1 will actually increase toughness by one. As for the current discussion; it clearly says that the T of all models is changed, and that the effects (plural) last for the rest of the game. New recruits to this unit become part of the unit, thereby inheriting the conditions that "last for the rest of the game". From a very strict RAW perspective, it appears that any newcomers to the unit, even a passing character, will suffer from Wither as long as they are a part of the unit. Once leaving the unit, the model still be affected by Wither as the spell specifies that all [individual] models are effected (with a plural on the "effect"). Upon reentering the unit, they will once again become part of the unit, once again being affected by the initial Wither... meaning that the Wither effects will stake. Also, if you really want to be an ass, you could caste Wither on your own units and argue that it gives them stackable +1T for the rest of the game (as most elementary students should be able to tell you that -[-1]=+1)... then get Tretch to jump in and out of the unit. I wouldn't play anything like that. I would have to have a thorough read through with my opponent before the game and come up with some sort of agreements for all these terribly written rules. It would only take what?.. a an hour or so? ![]() In conclusion, this is just more of the same. Incoherent rules that needed to be proof read before going to print. Seriously, I think I will make sure to keep my receipt encase I want to return the book due to it not being a finished product. We shouldn't have paid C$35 (or equivalent) for what appears to be a beta version of the army book
