Hi there! I write and write and change and change my army list. I know one thing for sure. I want the army with a seer. The bell cost alot and have some very good things, but all cost like 500p. How possible and good is it you think to have a Seer without Bell?

*Shrugs* I've almost always run my seer without a bell, due to the fact that the standard size of games where I am is 2k, and the bell is a bit on the expensive side for such points levels. The seer on foot served me very well during the last edition, and now with some improved spells I think he shall remain a staple in my army. For now, I run him with no upgrades or the Shadow Magnet Trinket, and that's about it.

Hope this helps,

Doesn't need the bell to be awesome, I mean its already a level 4 wizard and other armies have level 4 wizards who cant take the bell, and they still take wizard lords.

So if you cant afford the bell then yeah, go bell-less. You wont be considered less of a Seer.

I've been running mine with Skalm and the Foul Pendant to be super-survivable. Helps avoid the sads when you miscast or foul up warplightning.

Also a rat-hound, just cos its on my model.

I usually place him with Clanrats that I'm holding back from the main lines, keeping gaps between Slaves and suchlike for line of sight. If things start looking bad for him, he'll Skitterleap out (Skitterleap is such an incredibly useful spell, I never leave home without it) either into another Clanrat unit if one is available or to somewhere else relatively safe.

I like the idea of Skitterleaping into a choice location and then dropping some Cloud of Corruption or similar bombs. As the Bell isn't giving any extra power dice, its only real advantage over the on foot method, as far as spell casting is concerned, is that you have 360 degrees of sight over top of most things... for that you give up the mobility of Skitterleap.

360 vision is a BIG help.

Skavens biggest weakenss is to be flanked since he can see all round he target things trying to get on your flanks.

Also as an unbreakable unit it can hold a flank fairly well.

also because he measures spells from his base if you get the plauge spell that does damage to all within 12" this range is effectively extended due to his position... all in all the bell is a good investment if you know how to use it.
