Hey guys, Bit of a newb here. So I know you can't go even a point over the max points for an army - in this case let's say I'm building a 2000 point army. Usually that will mean getting to like 1994 or something like that. You can't take a lord other than "2000+". So would a 1994 point army qualify as a "2000 point army" for purposes of being allowed to take 1 lord choice? |

depends where youre playing. My regular opponents and I all agree on a 10 point over/under policy. For example, my Skaven force is 2006 points. It all goes down to what you an your opponent agree on |

If you agree 2000 points with your opponent then you can take a lord as you're playing a 2000 point game. As you say, lists will usually be under 2000 points, although with Skaven its fairly easy to get 2000 on the spot - an extra slave never goes amiss. |

from a rule perspective in most(probably all) army books it says that it's almost impossible to get exactly 2000 points and that most armies will be 1999 or 1998. check your army book, usually it's right before the part where everything has it's points values listed. but i agree a consensus with the person/people you play with is better. |
The best way to configure an army is to go play demons.-Nevamore Posted on Nov 6 2009, 04:02 PM

Well it actually says quite clearly in all army books that if you agree on a 2000pts game, you can spend your points accordingly even if it doesn't add up to 2000 or whatever. So potentially, your entire 2000 pts list could be 3 core and a lord, even if it adds up to only 750pts. But it's kinda pointless to just put yourself at a disadvantage so most people get as close to the points limit as possible. |
