And who usually writes them? The original author and staff or someone new? I've never put much thought into how an FAQ for an armybook gets written, but I sure as heck think about it now with the new Skaven Book. Everytime I go out to play a game it feels like I am getting ready to go to court and argue a murder trial. Sorry to gripe in this thread, I am just getting so worn down by the lawyering going on over this new book. I had a guy today argue that my Doomwheel can never enter combat since it can't move during the charge phase and it doesn't have a rule that lets it accidentally charge during the complusory phase. I looked him striaght in the eye and asked "What? It just rides around the battlefield all day, cruising to some tunes?" |

Usually it isn't long after a book makes contact with the players. Interestingly, I've been told that the preview copies that went out to "friends of GW" (ex-playtesters and things like that) about 7-8 months ago are the same as the first edition ones we've got now (first print run went out about 3 months ago, and the book got sent for translation prior to the preview copies going out) - Told this by someone who has been taunting me with his preview copy for the last 6 months... |

Anywhere from 1-5 years for a short 2-page FAQ that doesn't answer all of the ongoing questions players have. Then they release a new edition of the book and the FAQ is moot (well, for that edition)... Sorry, WHFB gamer since 3e, so a little tongue in cheek here, but seriously. Thinking GW will produce a comprehensive FAQ is what ingesting Warpstone gets you... Seriously though, when you look at the magic items section and they couldn't be consistent with the wording for who can use what items (read the 'group only' item rules in italics...each has different wording) how can you think they'll do an FAQ with any alacrity. |

faqs are not guaranteed at anytime after a book. They have been pretty good with the fantasy faqs lately and releasing them a month or so after the books, but there have been times where its taken a half year or longer. I wish they would spend more times with the erratas/faqs than what they do. Direwolf has done a pretty good job at cleaning up some of the stuff gw leaves out. |
