Well, I got the book yesterday, and a box of Clannies and I've already started painting and assembling. I've got a bead on just what I'm looking for in a Skaven army, and that is victory through numbers, along with a few extra toys on the side to raise a bit of extra hell. My planned army at 500 points is as follows: - - - - - - Chieftain with Shield, Halberd and Tail Weapon. - 57pts 2 blocks of 20 slaves, naked. - 80pts 2 Blocks of 25 Clanrats with shields, musicians and Standard bearers. - 249pts 1 Ratling Gun - 55pts 6 Poisoned Wind Globeadiers. - - - - Very nearly 100 bodies in the field, along with a few grubby pickings from Clan Skryre's armoury, all for 501 points. I don't have any particulalry hard or killy model in here, the Chieftain is pretty basic - it's just a Skaven horde army. |

Pretty solid base for a Skaven army. Personally I'd lose the globadiers and the ratling gun, never really got on with globadiers since they were made their own unit and ratling guns aren't what they used to be. I'd take two Warpfire throwers for the Clanrat units and use the leftover points for a Sword of Might and Enchanted Shield on the chieftain which will give him S5 and a 3+ save as you can't use the halberd and shield together. Other than that it seems a good list to start with! |

id change the ratling gun to a doomflayer (amazing in combat), use the extra points to buy your general poisoned attacks, also lose the halberd and give him a rat hound body guard, nice lot of attacks from one model in such a low point game. Not a fan of the globadiers either, don't think 6 would have that much of an impact on the game, maybe you've had more success with them, personally id trade them for 14 giant rats and 2 pack masters i think comes to 58pts. But alot of models for 500 pts. |

Musing on the advice and a couple other things... mostly the habit of the Regulars at the club who field Dwarves and Empire to so love their cowardly Gunlines... ------- Chieftain Lukris with Shield, Tail Weapon, Rat-Hound and Sword of Might. - 80pts 1 block of 20 slaves with Musician. - 42pts 2 Blocks of 20 Clanrats with shields, musicians and Standard bearers. - 274pts - 1 Warpfire Thrower 5 Gutter Runners with Death Runner - 102pts - Poisoned Attacks - 498 Points total. -------- Number are down to about 65 rats total, but I have a rank worth of Sneaky Infiltrators to appear behind the enemy gunlines to chew up their cannon crews and gunners, which is almost a requirement around my club. I think I'll use the first list when dealing with enemies that are not poopy-pants cringing cowards, with a slight adjustment to warpfire throwers as mentioned and a boosted Chieftain. |
