Hey all, I might just be reading something into nothing, but two things got me thinking.

In the new WD, the interview with JV says something along the lines of "I look forward to seeing how these new models turn out in the not too distant future" when talking about the figures for the new contraptions.

Secondly, there are heavy rumours of 8th ed. coming mid 2010 (and that Skaven could be a sign of things to come re: templates). The 8th ed. launch will apparently (so they say) be accompanied by a set of cavalry releases for each army.

As Skaven have no cav, will we see models for the new weapons team coming with this release, in mid-2010?

Probably nothing.

Just a thought.

Highly doubt this, for several reasons.

1. Not all armies are even in 7th ed yet. It would seem pretty pointless to release a new edition and not have all their bases covered (*cough*darkeldar*cough*)

2. Releasing 8th ed in 2010 is retarded for a second reason because they have only been releasing army books for 7th ed for a few years. It would be kind of retarded to re-release Warhammer Armies: Dwarfs after only, what, 2 years? 3?

3. We sat on 6th edition for about 10 years before the advent of 7th. Personally, i dont believe that 7th ed is so messed up rules wise as to require a complete rewrite after only a few years.

4. Cavalry releases? For every army?............BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Dwarves on horses.....heh heh heh......

I think someone is yanking your little slavie chain on this one.
You kids these days have it so easy, what with your Plague Furnaces and your Hellpit Abominations and your Bonebreaker Warlords. Back in MY day, all we had was Slaves and Clanrats!...and auto-hit Ratling Guns...and skirmishing Jezzails...and 2D6 Warp Lightning...and Lead From The Back...wait, what was my arguement again?

I was hearing that it was going to be a campaign releases this summer. New cavalry models for armies prominent in the campaign would make sense. Say the campaign was in Lustria then you could have 4 major forces (Skaven, Lizard-things, Dark elf-things, demon-things) all of which need new calvalry models (weapons teams, cold one, dark riders, seekers). That would make sense in my mind

PS: before someone flips I realize that a lustria campaign has been done before and that it is clan Pestilen not Skyre prominent in lustria... this is only an example

ANOTHER lustria campaign? Really? Why the hell would that be? Is there no-where interesting to campaign in the olde world?

Why dont we go to Cathay or something. Or Nippon? Or Ind? Im sick of lustria! Its hot, and it smells bad!

Quiet, I'm plotting.

I thought GW had abandoned the whole campaign thing. It always ends up so... disappointing.

Those with long memories, such as myself, may remember that in the dark past of Warhammer Dwarfs did in fact have mounts. They could ride boars. I kid you not.

May I present exhibit a.

I too read that and thought that "Yeah, it sounds like a second wave release for skaven".

@chieftainskritchskritch: Just because you haven't heard about a new edition release there's no reason to post such flippant answers. There has been rumours about it.

I'm not sure I believe the "Cavalry (or similar) for everyone" rumour, but I do believe in a new edition soon.

Bunny ear says flop

If Games Workshop is going to do a summer campaign again, then it would be the first since a couple of years. The Nemesis Crown campaign, if I recall correctly, has been the last one and that one is already from 2007... Of course, it could very well be that they're going to do an in-store campaign-thingy, as they did with the USA 'Venture into the New World' campaign. (I don't know the exact name and, to be honest, can't be bothered to look it up, as this came from the previous version of the site). However, both options are things I doubt Games Workshop will be doing.

It could very well be that we'll see the new weapon team models for the new Skryre toys (and revised ones for the existing ones) as a 'cavalry base' release period. Doesn't sound as an unlikely thing.

8th edition being released in the summer has been confirmed by the rumour mongers in the know, so it's a reality.

I've herd conflicting rumours, one says it's 8th ed comming end of next year (with beasts of chaos being the last book redone or tomb kings squeezed in just before launch and the skaven book is designed around how 8th ed would work (less items).
Other one says it's the campaign comming which is focused around cav (does not mean EVERYONE gets cav! just means their releasing plastics for the armies who have metal and their cavallry will be the focus).

Dunno how much to put in rumours but GW have released new editions in the past with 2 or 3 armies not getting new books. IF the new ed came after tomb kings that would leave woodies, ogres and brets as 6th ed books and most likely the first being redone with the new edition. Who knows though all speculation.

Oh yeah there is also rumours that a new starter set is being made up at the moment aswell.

Well if you think about it it isn't that unlikely for mid 2010 since 7th ed was released sep 2006.

Warhammer 4th ed-5th was a 4 year gap, same with 5th ed to 6th ed.
6th ed was 2 years longer because thats when Lotr came and so took up alot of release space.
Not to mention 40k 5th ed was 4 years after 4th ed.

My guess is that after BOC and Tomb Kings, Brets will be like Nov or something in 2010. Then its been rumoured that O&G are getting a new book in the first Quarter of 2011. Then I would suspect Ogres then Woodies around 2011. Then we are back to Dwarfs.

cheers.

Actually mid 2010 is probably correct. GW said has reworked its business model. They said they want to reinvent each game (40K & Fantasy) every 4-5 years. 7th edition came out, I believe in September 2006. So it would make sense. This does mean that some armies will not get an update. If you think GW will not do this you are wrong. Look at 4th edition 40K not every army received an update in that edition. So, GW could do that to fantasy.

Current Fantasy Armies:
Dark Elves
Empire
Skaven

Theres been hefty rumours of a new army for games workshop (I say games workshop as the system is uncomfirmed) but people are leaning very heavily towards it being fantasy. Looking at the proof: Ogre maneaters with an eastern flavour, new dragons at games day UK with an japanese look and something i read today in the new skaven book under the doomrocket "built with secrets stolen from the mysterious east"

The east of the Old World seems to be creeping into the game steadily and right under our noses!! Add in abundant rumours that Forge World are working on Chaos Dwarves could be a big clue aswell
so...she was made of chimps?
