do you think they are skaveny? personnally i think the rolling ball of death (my name for it, i happen to be sculpting something like it for troll forged mini's "wink wink") and the drill are very skaveny, but a mortar? i mean, we're in low tunnels, not open air (at least not all the time) so how is it "skaveny" your thoughts on all weapon teams this edition very welcomed! |

I think its all in perspective. I see Skyre coming up with some half baked crazy idea to launch poison wind globes at the enemy. The "mortor" is how the book portraits it but personally I'm thinking more of a poison wind rocket launcher. |

I said the same thing when i first started reading about the new skaven some of the stuff seems out of place but really think about the skaven as a whole. Everything they do is just copying what the surface wellers are doing and making it better. Jezzails, Long Rifles. Moulder lives near the a lot of chaos and just free bases chaos, Dwarf organ gun, Ratling gun. Warlitter, Shield bearers and the nurgle throne thingy. But as for the mortars specifically what do you think would happen if you launched a few mortar shots into a small almost sealed off dwarven hall? which is full of dwarfs by the way? Everything thing we do is just borrowed ideas made better |

You create weaponry to function in the landscape you will be fighting in. For your above ground battles you'd take a mortar, in the tunnels you wouldn't. --Cap |

When I think about the whole 'battling underground' issue, I just think of the dwarf holds you see in The Lord of the Rings, Warhammer Online or even on the cover on the new book. Sure they're underground, but there's still over a hundred feet of clearance. Just because it's underground doesn't mean it's some cramped head high winding corridor. |

I see it the same way as well. The Skaven book covers (6th and 7th ed.) depict that as well. |

Well, if you look at the picture for it in the armybook, it basically appears to be a long tube strapped on the back of a (propably very unfortunate) Skaven. So, if you'd worry about height, I think the angle at which you elevate the tube from where the globe is shot would be a lot lower in tunnels. Greetz |

Well, it is gas, so you would want to shoot at a place before you enemy gets there! I actually think the mortars gas explosion should stay for a few turns, because it would be great. Gassing tunnels and stuff is great! |

All cut up...

But the poisoned wind mortar IMO came from the need to A: hide and kill (which is skaveny) and B: kill otherwise impenetrable shield walls of dwarves (which is also skaveny). Also, like everyone else, the dwarves have huge bits of fluff describing their HUGE caverns they carved out them selves. So there'd be plenty of space to shoot them. |

I think Skryre may have design the mortar to be used in open spaces. |

"Let's see, if i attach this wire to the connector it should-" KABOOM! "Oops, wrong connector." one of Technostorm's many failed experiments clanrats... YAY!!!Technostorm is one of a very few skaven to be born with incredibly pale fur, but not be uber-epic. Like a lab rat | |
