HI everyone,

I was wondering if anyoine has any ideas/has run a successful warhammer fantasy campaign?

I ideally want one that allows players to play whoever they want and would interest all armys...

any ideas would be greatfully accepted!

Thank you

The New Lunar Republic!
I have not run any campaigns to date, though I have a few guidelines:

Have the entire storyline prepared first. I have experienced a make-it-up-as-you-go campaign, and it was like nails on chalkboard.

Keep it reasonably small scale, so you don't have to rig results to make it work (the nemesis crown was a good example, where the end results were rigged, so the old world did not crumble into chaos).

Be prepared for a lot of work! You'll soon find that running a campaign is harder than it looks.

Have specific sign-up requirements, like time-frame, armies, etc...

Generally, it's good to kick things off with a bang, in this case with perhaps a mega-battle, with everyone involved to some extent. Follow up with perhaps an escalation league, starting at 500pts, with specific mega-battles/scenarios each time you hit 1000, 1500 and 2000pts, which help advance the storyline of the campaign. After the 2000pts scenario, have a final round of 1 vs. 1 games,in which the victor of each game gains a small bonus (200 extra points, free magic banner under 50pts, anything...), for the final, big, battle that marks the end of the campaign.

Hope this helps,

I like adding some odd rules like -

if you use a named character and he / she dies then you cannot use that character for the rest of the campaign but you can use the points spent on them to buy other things....

this relies though on honesty of the person using this character which i have normally found isnt a problem.
Daniel cannot possibly exist in a dimensional state.

Recent studies show that people who have attempted to comprehend Daniel have either disappeared, died spontaneously, or driven themselves into a pertinent state of insanity and/or catatonia.

if u do a campagn its a good plan to have a couple of the people who u will play in the campagn against to advice you on the appropriat corse of action. i would suggest making the campagn centered around one skaven clan and one event inhistory, eg:thanqoul wen he summoned a bloodthirster and its army instead of a verminlord. that way u get skaven, deamons of korne and dwarfs on the field :duel:

Adding the Injury Chart from Mordheim (or Warhammer Warbands) makes it a bit more fun for characters. ;)

In a campaign we were planning a while ago we had this and many other rules and stuff, if a character died during a battle we rolled a D6, on 5-6 he was fully recovered and on 1-4 we rolled on the serious injury chart.

If a mage of any kind was in the army he/she/it could act as a healer and attempt to heal those who roll dead on a 3+, but will roll d3+1 times on multiple injuries instead.

We also did use the Archetype rules for characters along with some character advancement system we found in a White Dwarf magazine which was for mighty empires, making it a bit more fun since the characters evolved during the campaign.

Each player was allowed to create a number of characters for the campaign, I belive we had 6 or 8 in total, and they were not allowed to change during it (apart from the advancements and on/off steeds) and had to use the same weaponry and magic items, if course if the character gained access to another magic item he could pick that one up instead (which made it possible for him to gain more than his limit).

Making it possible for some armies to steal magic items could be a possibility, we made it so that if a character who was slain during battle rolled a robbed result on his chart the opposing player got the items he had, and could sell them to gain extra points for his next battle to the value of the items or use them himself, but we had to use common sense here, it's not likely that orcs steal empire weaponry but they do steal dwarven weapons at times etc. Same with magic banners, if your unit won a combat against an enemy unit and stole their banner the one who took it might steal it on a roll of 6 after the battle.
