Ok, I play tau, and Im afraid to play the eldar in capture and control missions- the simple reason-hawks, they can jump in and out of the game allowing me no chance to shoot at them, and then on the last turn, since they automatically come in, they could contest all of my CP's, and if he goes last, I just lose, period....the only hope for me in this scenario is that he rolls onto me and gets a mishap, as trying to land withing 3" of the objective (where my guys will most definitely be) would give a high chance of failure.... So far the only counter I can come up with is on my last turn to send some piranha's 24" and right next to his, although this is far less reliable |

Currently eldars main stregnth is in captureing and contesting locations due to their high speed in pretty much every regard. Keep in mind that said swooping hawks are at the same time pretty expensive for what they do (grenade pack isnt that good) and it also takes up valuable fast attack choices that I'd sooner have units such as vyper squadrons and warp spiders. And remember only troops can claim all they can do is contest. |

You can just plant your devilfish ontop of an objective(with troops inside), then he wont be able to get close enough to contest without ramming you. Even with a ram he will stop at contact with you and that might still be far enough away. Its a problem with more armies than eldar really, even tau can do it with their piranhas. Besides with variable game length he doesnt know if the game ends or not, if it doesnt you can wipe out his mobile stuff when its sitting ontop of you
