i would say VC just because they are cool and they are also a hordy army n has such sweet fluff and skaven are involved with them aswell in parts of history, but another army i would think of is Lizzy's i think they are cool i mean who dosent like to paly with dinosaurs :P and they have a nice copy of history of the aztec which i personally think is badass and they have a havy background with skaven (skaven) but no matter how many armys i own i will never get rid of my skaven!

Skaven is technically my 2nd army. I started as an Empire player but have since sold all my Empire figs and am focusing on Skaven. If I had to pick another army though I would most likely go with either a Warriors or Chaos army or an entirely Goblin Orcs & Goblins army. I like the idea of an entire close combat army with really cool options for monsters. I also think the Chaos Knights are awesome and can destroy almost anything. As for the entirely Goblin army, I think it would be so much fun. I know Warhammer is a game about trying to crush your enemy and win and all that, but I think it would be so much fun to march a huge army of almost completely worthless Goblins. They are very similar to Skaven but with the major downside of no real hard hitters minus the Night Goblin Fanatics. Also, just think of having to roll upwards of 10 animosity tests every turn and dealing with the crazy antics of squabbling/fighting Goblins. On another note no matter what the outcome of the battle you get to look at it as either, you lost due to the total crappy strength and tactics of Goblins or.....you could laugh at your opponent for loosing to an all Goblin army! :D

second army? lol, crikey what would i be on now?

i tend to start armies when i just have a sudden urge to create some specific theme. usually conversion ideas that just sorta come to me and then an entire army stems from that.

skaven are my first army. then i had a bret' army. then a tau army. then a witch hunters army. then a vampire counts army. then a mixed slaaneshi army. then a necron army. then a slaaneshi beasts army. then a guard army. then a slaaneshi mortal army. and now i'm onto my 2nd go at a witch hunters army.

i think i've got most of them covered there. i chose bret's cause they were different to skaven by a lot. then i chose tau cause i wanted to start playing 40k and they looked cool. then i started a witch hunter army cause tau bored me and witch hunters looked cool. then i started a VC army cause i thought i'd be able to turn my bret's into VC pretty easily. i had been working on my slaaneshi chaos before and during the VC, but the VC got finished first. i started chaos cause i had some cool conversion ideas. then i started necrons cause i'd got rid of my tau and witch hunters in exchange for chaos stuff and wanted a 40k army and my mate had most of a necron force going cheap. then i decided i wanted to play chaos again, as i hadn't since the split, so i built up my beastmen army so it was stand alone. started getting guard stuff cause i was inspired to build a russian themed guard army. then i realised that beasts sucked compared to everyone else, so i began work on building up the mortal section of my chaos forces. i wanted a new 40k army, and i'd liked witch hunters but metal models annoy me, so i decided i'd make the entire army out of plastic.

i think i covered most of it there.

next army i'll start will be slaaneshi ogre kingdoms, starting during the week long challenge this january.

I have some Lizardmen I'm currently playing around with. I wanted something that was different from skaven.

Not brown and drab? Check.

Less apt to run and hide at the first hint of danger? Check.

Lizardmen are also not your typical human/elf/dwarf race that you see in almost every other fantasy setting, game or otherwise.

Going to put in another bid for Brets.

When I get round to a second army I want it to be something the exact opposite of Skaven, so few elite well-armoured cavalry models with little to no shooting or magic is where I would go next - also cheap!

To be honest I like armies that are either end of the spectrum, Skaven - horde, Brets - elites. This is why I stay away from armies like Lizzies, High Elves and Empire - they are just too vanilla for me.

The main problem most people have with them is that they aren't very versatile, which is true, but if you wanted a change then I would just go back to playing Skaven.

For 40K it would have to be Nids - just the whole army looks awesome with superb painting oppourtunities.

Cheers,

A big thing for me is the army's fluff and style. Another thing is the way they play, rather than opposed to how many models you field.

Skaven is actually my third army, but the only army I currently own. Dwarfs were my first. I loved their armor but the high point cost and sloooow speed bothered me. I tried orcs and goblins next, they were stolen, I got a second orcs and goblins army and that one was ALSO stolen. I enjoyed them but I didn't like their war machines or animosity and they were still a little bit too slow.

I adore the skaven, they are fast, have cool war machines and fluff and their point costs are soooo cheeeeeeap.

My second army is already decided to be Tomb Kings. I love their fluff and I've always wanted an undead army. Way more than I wanted Skaven even. The reason I went with Skaven first is because they match my playstyle the best. Now that I HAVE a 3k skaven army I can look at possibly getting another one.

im putting a vote into brets as well due to 1, they are heavily armored, 2 the fluff for there specal units are awesome (read the green knight's entry), 3 you still have the expedible hordes aka the peasantry, 4 the peasents can get bows, 5 more historical looking than anything else even the empire has some wacky parts to it while brits are almost percisely historical if you dont include magic, and... what number am i on? ile just say 42, the green knight is ownage, he's in reserve, can come back after dyeing, can teleport through trees/hills/lakes, has two diffrent attacks depending on the type of army your faceing, and most of all the modle is awesome!

skaven is my first army, and i dont have a second one yet, but im going with britonians because i love doing anti heros and black knights are perfect.especaly useing the green knight as "the black prince."(writeing fluff for the army before i even get a singe modle)
clan ashen has spoken...
i hope no one cares enough to silence me

right my secound army was dwarfs although it was very nearly my first instead of skaven. this is because when i decided that i was going to start warhammer i always liked the general appeal of the dwarfs but just as i was about to start dwarfs out of nowhere i get about 500pts of free skaven. now i played with these skaven just to get used to the rules and i ended up falling in love with them and quickly forgot about the dwarfs.

i believe that the horned rat himself had caused thoses skaven to first fall in to my paws and that i till this day carry the favour of the horned one himself.

one more intresting thing i was twelve when i first thought about collecting dwarfs although i had just turned 13 when i got the free skaven. surely a sign
