UE Painting Competition 2009 Category Reference List This is the list of all the painting competition categories for the next year, so if you want to check ahead to see how much time you'd need to get something painted up, here it is. January-February ~ Skaven Character Any single skaven character model, whether lord, hero or special. Vermin Lords, Bloodbowl star players and Mordheim heroes can all be entered here, as well as Screaming Bells. You may also use specialist lists such as Hell Pit, Bubonic Court and Storm of Chaos. Entry Thread - Closed Voting Thread - Closed March-April ~ Skryre Contraption Anthing associated with Clan Skryre. They can be from the main skaven list, the specialist list at the back of the book or some elaborate contraption of your own devising. Doomwheels, ratling guns, globadiers... anything that looks like it might explode and take out half your army is perfect. Entry Thread - Closed Voting Thread - Closed May-June ~ Moulder Monstrosity These can be from the main army list or the Hell Pit list, or again, some horrible, horrible abomination of your own unholy design. Entry Thread - Closed Voting Thread - Closed July-August ~ Terrain Piece/Unit Centrepiece This is a fairly wide ranging topic as things like objective markers may also be entered in this category. Anything used to add visual interest to the game are welcome - mini-dioramas used to bulk up a regiment, elaborate turn-counters, buildings, terrain etc. Entry Thread - Closed Voting thread - Closed September-October ~ Single Skaven Regiment This can be any skaven unit as long as it meets the minimum standards to be useable in a game - ie, clanrat units must have a minimum of 20 models, rat ogres should have packmasters, gutter runners should be skirmishers, etc. They may be shown with characters and any command, as well as any unit attachments that the unit may have in-game, such as ratling guns. Skaven units may be taken from any skaven army list, such as the Storm of Chaos Eshin list, bubonic court or Hell Pit. Entry thread - Closed Voting thread - Closed November-December ~ Open Anything! It can be skaven, non-skaven, non-GW, converted, not converted, anything at all. This is also a useful category for anyone who was too late to enter something into an earlier category - if you missed a deadline, this is a chance to show off the model anyway. Entry thread Voting thread This is also the discussion thread for the categories so if you have any questions or any suggestions for next year, this is the place to do it. Good luck to anyone who enters and happy painting

ooo, this is a good format. longer deadlines and a heads up means that i think i'll be participating in probably all of these. the only one i can't see myself participating in is moulder. not cause i don't like moulder, it's just most of my moulder beasties are devoted to slaanesh now

Does a model have to be specifically made for the painting competition, or can it be a model already painted? |

@ Azhtabak: You can make something specially or use something you had already, it's up to you. You can even use something you've already posted in an army diary or elsewhere on the forum. The only exception is that you can't enter anything that's already won first place in a previous competition. ![]() @ Cazgar: Well it's still sort of Moulder so enter them anyway ![]() |

I'm in for all 6 this year if I can get the kitchen installed and a workspace cleared! Really looking foward to Skryre & Moulder comps and will post my current general soon so as to not miss out. Who knows with the longer entry period that limit of 15 entries could well become a problem, may need to run heats? |
Currently joint first in PRS points, may as well blow my trumpet whilst I've got one.

I think i'll take part in the regiment one. On a side note: AAARGH!! Google ads just knocked me out with an oversized "PHOTO CONTESTS" ad. |

Is it possible to enter more than one entry into any one category? |

Nope. Single entry per person, per catagory! If your entering more than one, it implies that you don't know what is your best work. Plus its unfair in terms of the possabilities of earning too many PRS points for the competition and therefore restricting those available to others. |

Thanks for the ideas there! ![]() I was just trying to conjure up some ideas for next year, as we now have only one more competition this year. I certainly like many of them and we will be seeing a LOT of Skaven related ones with the new book coming out very soon. I will try and get a list of the painting competition catagories for next year out in December.

List and links updated again! The new entry thread for nov-dec is up. ![]() The P&H Team shall be attempting to get a list together for catagories for 2010, ready for posting in december (as early as possible). So look out for that one! Expect it to be Skaven heavy with the release of the new army book.

Hi, just wondering about the Nov-Dec category. The entry thread says Warhammer model. Is this only Fantasy or includes 40K models too? Thanks. |
