Master Assassin Kerqueak
Clanrat
After reading Blood Vixen's Slave rebelion list, and looking at what I had, I got a little insperation for my own theme, complete with color scheme and backround.

History: Kerqueak Ironclaw used to be an aspiring cheiftan of the greater clan Skryre, until one day, while observing a new weapon being tested, he was hit straight on by the weapons usually deadly barrage or warpstone. He later found that his arm had fused with the arm claw he weilded.

Then he had strange dreams come to him, showing him a new method of carying out the Horned Rat's bidding, that every rat should do their equal. He started preaching this new way, and while at first only a few clan rats and a few more slaves would listen to him at first, soon his preaching got other Skaven thinking. As more and more skaven flocked to his cause, Kerqueak declared his sucession from Clan Skryre.

Now, many would expect that Clan Skryre weren't happy about this, which they weren't. But for reasons unknown to all but the Lord of Decay himself, Clan Ironclaw was allowed to continue living, preaching their ways.

There is rumor going around that when the second civil war starts, Clan Ironclaw is to side with the rebelion, but as of the moment, the new Warlord dismisses this as rumor.

Philosiphy:Destroy all those races who defy the Horned rat, strike with the iron claw! (Kerqueaks signiture pre-battle speach)

Lords:Kerqueak is always commanding the armies if he can, being a bit moe brave than others. Represent him with a warlord using additional hand weapons.

Lesser Warlords arent unknown, so they may be fielded to, but their points cost cannot ecceed Kerqueak's

0-1 Grey Seers are allowed, but he must ride on a screaming bell (hes the clans only Grey seer, he belives in the cause)

Heroes:Cheiftans have been seen around Kerqueak, so may join the battle.

0-(1 per 1000 pts) Warlock Engineer may be taken, as they help repair and maintain equipment. One in perticular, known only as Zablam, takes to the feild in a sut of iron armour, it does nothing to protect him, but powers up his warpstone drum (counts as casting warp lightning).

0-1 Assassn may be taken, as part of a small eshin force sent to keep an eye on Kerqueak.

No other Heroes may be taken.

Core: 2+ Clanrats

1+ "Slaves": Note that Kerqueak treats all skaven in his clan according to their level of devotion, his "Slave" units represents a mix of clanrats and slvaes that are not as devoted, just as "Clanrats" represent the more devoted followers.

0-1 Stormvermin (only in 3000 pts +)

Night Runners:Part of the Eshin warband sent to keep a eye on the clan.

Poisoned Wind Globadiers:Perticularly dedicated followers, willing to throw their lives away for the cause.

No other Core choices can be used.

Special: Jezzials

Gutter Runners: See Night Runners.

No other special choices allowed.

Rare: Warp Lightning Cannon: Seeing as no sane rat would volunteer, Kerqueak gets slaves from other races (every Clan needs someone to do the really dirty work for them :D ) to do it.

No other Rare choices allowed, as Kerqueak's still drawing up plans for a doomwheel.

Color Scheme:For the Lords and Heroes, Crimson and Boltgun Metal.

The clanrats were made by chopping the plastic plauge monks in half and filing the top part of the Clanrat body down, then painted Crimson and bronze

"Slaves" were the reverse, Plauge monks top half on clanrat bottom. paint their uniform grey, this represents the less fanatical.

The Eshin section gets painted with black cloaks.

Other army slaves get torn versions of their regular uniforms.

I quite like the idea behind this army, really! A nice background fluff, and it should be plenty playable. Themes are a really nice way of getting new enjoyment out of a list that would otherwise possibly overwhelm the user with choices!

@Master Assassin Kerqueak: Have you started on this army yourself, or is it just an idea?

It's fine to cut off sections, alot of people do it and it doesn't necessarly take away from the list too much. Besides, alot of people will argue that Rat Ogres are one of the lesserly useful things in the army book, and you can always fill the roles of Giant Rats with Clanrats or Slaves.

What model are you using for Kerqueak Ironclaw? If you're not already, I'd really recommend Ikit Claw, he sounds almost perfect for the role! Metal Claw, Skryre feel, armour with additional hand weapon... what more could you want?

As said before, fantastic concept and it's going to be cool to see it go from theory to practise and watch it take shape :)

Good luck with it!

I wonder what a slave rebellion army versus the Slavetaker's horde (ok I say horde but  ) would be like. A battle would be interesting there background wise :P
