Hey guys im new here as you can see but i have been reading alot through the forums and finally decided to post. My question to everyone is im looking to start a magic heavy skaven army because i think it sounds like a really cool idea plus i really like the whole theme behind the skaven magic and what not so any good ideas????? i have store credit at the gameing store i go to so im looking to buy the models so i wana get an accurate list down before i go putting in any orders. Other than that my true passion is clan skyre i eventually wana build a list around it. Yes yes i know CHEESE but i really love the backstory and i love the models so thats my long term goal for my skaven army but for right now its just a 1000pts magic heavy Thanks Sicarous -Devoted follower of the tastey warpstone token- |

Welcome-welcome, brethren! Well, if you wanna go Clan Skyre and magic, the first port of call would have to be a warlock engineer. With access to the meanest magic missile in the game, and some pretty sweet wargear options (cough-storm daemon-cough), he is almost essential in any game you play. That said, no skaven force is complete without those trusty little guys, the clanrats. You have to field at least one unit of these in every game (its a mandatory rule), so investing in at least one unit is crucial (hell, go for 2 while you're at it. everyone loves clanrats! ).And finally, the war engines of Clan Skyre would mprobably hold a special attraction for you, and there are plenty to choose from! Want a machine gun? Then pick up a ratling gun! Are uber powerful rifles your thing? Then grab some jezzails! Or perhaps the idea of zany and random gadgets do it for you? If so, you cant go past a warp lightning cannon! A word to the wise, however: The skaven list is likely to be redone next year, and all sources indicate that skaven shooting and magic is probably going to be toned down in favour of combat effectiveness boosts. If I were you, I wouldnt go nuts with buying heaps of Clan Skyre just now. I mean, a warlock engineer and some Skyre based shooting is ok, but you wouldnt want to buy a whole heap of ratling guns, warpfire throwers and jezzails only to find out that they suck mega hard come next year or so..... Anyways, enjoy your long and prosperous time as a rat man, young slave! (That is, assuming someone doesnt pay to have you assasinated or something.....). Watch your back! |
| You kids these days have it so easy, what with your Plague Furnaces and your Hellpit Abominations and your Bonebreaker Warlords. Back in MY day, all we had was Slaves and Clanrats!...and auto-hit Ratling Guns...and skirmishing Jezzails...and 2D6 Warp Lightning...and Lead From The Back...wait, what was my arguement again? | |

in 1000pts you cant go wrong with 2 warlocks with the full gear (no pistol of course), and the storm daemon. for 195pts you have a huge advantage in the magic phase (you could go for 3 warlocks and add the EOTHR but this might be a little to magic heavy for friendly games). Add a chieftain to balance it out with some clanrats and you have one nasty magic heavy army. At least 2 (3 is better) units of clanrats is necessary along with slaves. Your going to want to keep everything locked up in meaningless combats while you blast away with your magic. So on top of slaves giant rat packs and night runners will also help since the goal will be to whittle the unit down to the point that your CR and chieftan can finish the job. |
| Huge Skaven Army for sale. I have built and primed over 4000pts worth of skaven, and have 2500pts of that painted and based. PM me for details if your interested. | |

If the warlock is in a unit then a pistol can help a bit. cause as i see the rules the warpblades give the warlock +1S, to all attacks as no restriction as given. so with a pistol you get a {very very small} charge reaction, and 2 S4 attacks from the warlock! not much but it's won me a combat once |

Welcome to the master race. ![]() In a word YES, the battalion box is great for skaven. Whatever list your going for you will need to have a few units of clanrats at least and the box will cover that. You will also get some plague monks and rat ogres as shock troops and a GRat pack as flankers. ![]() For the Skryre list, be careful. Its all well and fun, but uber cheesey lists will lose you friends. Not good in Warhammer, as theres not a lot of us about. I'd go for a couple of warlocks and 1 weapon team, then have troops for the rest. With the battalion box you could get near 1000pts with 2 engineers and a rattling gun, or WFT. ![]() Good luck. |

Excellent. ![]() Feel free to stop over the Hobby Tunnels area of the website for advice and tutorials on how to assemble and build up your Skaven army. ![]() There is also the Army Diary forum, where you can make a sort of army blog, as your army grows.

No, you can not have duplicate magic items in an army, unfortunately only one storm daemon. |
