I've never beaten the stumpies, but I've always used my Ogres. This is my first battle against Dwarfs using my Skaven... Warlord Queek Head-taker Chieftain BSB, Bannar of the Storm Warlock Engineer Death Globes 30 Storm Vermin Shields Standard, Musician, Warbannar 30 Clanrats Standard, Musician 30 Clanrats Standard, Musician 9 Poison Wind Globadiers (warlock goes here) 21 Slaves 21 Slaves 5 Night Runners, ahw 5 Night Runners, ahw 30 Plague Monks ahw, Standard, Bannar of Burning Hatred 5 Jezzails 4 Jezzails 6 Plague Censer Bearers 2001 points. I simply can't get any more models, I'm already using imaginary ranks I'm not sure about the Ratling guns, They tend to get picked off before they get in range. Jezzails in case of a 'copter. I want to crush this guy. He tends to use units of 30 stubborn dwarfs with protected flanks turtling in a corner. Thanks for the help. |

You could definitely use another unit of 30 clanrats and another regiment of slaves, if you do not have any more models than the MCU's you have are fine. That warlock will not get any spells off, dropping him for a tunneling team would be beneficial. |

Thanks, My plan is to stick the warlock with the PWG then wipe out Weapon Crews starting from the flank and moving inwards, stayin out of LoS of the thunderers. You're right, there's no point in trying to use magic against Dwarfs, so I didn't even buy him warp-blades. If i drop Mr Deathglobes and his PWG pals then I can buy 8 tunnelers with poisoned throwing stars. I'm concerned that they will scatter in to a unit and get wiped, my opponent keeps his units fairly tight. Either option is probably going to run away, you still think that the tunnelers are the better choice? I'm gonna take advice coz, well, I keep losing. |

Assuming your opponent has a few war machines and some thunderers, the tunnelers would probably be the better choice. Do not take a unit of 8 though, that is way too expensive for one unit. Take two units of 4-5 with poisoned weapons instead (no stars or champion). Yes they could scatter into a unit and die, but it would count as a charge so they would kill a few models, and if they end up charging in the flank or rear they might stand a chance at breaking a small unit. Placing the marker strategically (rear of opponent's units, more than 10" from table edge) should limit the chance of a bad scatter. |
