Warlord Squeeky (sword of might, heavy armor, shield)- 119

Fryer Tuck the Warlock- (full gear -pistol, Staff of sorcery) -135

Tim the mad Warlock- (full gear -pistol)-85

Joe the banner guy- (banner of the swarm)- 90

25 X 5 Clanrats (banner, musician) -700

25 X 5 slaves - 200

35X 1 giant rats- 150

1 X 2 Rat Ogres- 100

21 X 1 Plague Monks (banner, Warbanner, musician)- 198

6 X 1 Plague Censor Bearers- 102

1 X 2 Ratling guns- 120

Ok this is a horde list facing a mean raising undead army. I opted for the staff of sorcery since almost all his spells he only throws 1 dice for, so this should help me conserve dispel dice. The clanrats and slaves will be in the center of the board and march forward. The ratling guns will be on each flank to ward off banshees. The plague monks and Censor bears will along with the giant rats will go on the far flank and manuever for some mean flank charges(the giant rats and plague monks will 7 wide for maximum attacks. The rat ogres will be on each side of my generals clanrat unit. When he charges these ogres will go with him, and this will mean 4 str 5 attaks from my general plus 6 str 5 attacks from the rat ogres.

I need all the advise I can get so that this list will be as strong as possible against a VC army.

*Note- unfortunatley I don't have a WLC or jezzails and I dont have the money to buy them before the game starts so I can't take either of these units.

do you know what your opponent is likely to field??

some points for you...

1) banshees - 12" march move 8" scream - they can sit outside the range of your rat gun then march in and scream at it and you wont get any shots off... you need to kill the entire unit or they will be raised back to full strength with one spell

2)banner of swarm or sacred standard of horned rat - this will make your unit cause fear and save you from some terror tests and fear tests - the last thing you want is your generals unit not charging in when you need them too beacuse they failed a fear test - or running away cause you failed a terror test.

3) no storm daemon?? might want to take this one - the extra attempt to take out banshee's might be needed..

4) staff of scocery - they will largely be raising - as long as you can get WL off then you will be killing more than they can raise a turn, you might want to take a dispell scroll JIC they get a silly high roll for something like curse of years..

5) their spells to watch out for: curse of years - it will kill models in every magic phase not just your opponents like before, summon undead horde not to much to worry about as long as you can get WL off, wind of undeath - creates spirit hosts best not to let them get more ethereal stuff on the board.

6) stay as far away from them as possible untill you have taken care of the fast moving threats - i.e spirit hosts, banshees and wraiths, varghulf. you may want to try a refused flank and sit on the other side of the board...

7) pick a unit and kill it v.important for the likes of banshess and wraiths

Daniel cannot possibly exist in a dimensional state.

Recent studies show that people who have attempted to comprehend Daniel have either disappeared, died spontaneously, or driven themselves into a pertinent state of insanity and/or catatonia.

I'm actually not to worried about my ratling gun for two reasons. First with my general around my leadership will be 10. This means he has to roll a 9 or higher on 2 dice to kill them off which is fairly unlikely. To just get the scream off he'll now be within charge range of my better units which will be the end of that unit.

I love the storm daemon item but i dont know where i can get the points for it. The only place i can think is my general but i want to make sure he has a magic weapon in case he somehow ends up fighting ethereal creatures.

i know my opponent will be running a raising army. He starts with very few models on the board but then has 4 vamps (1 is manfred of foot) that raise untill the army is gigantic. To have a chance I think its probably neccesary to go after him early, because if I can take out 1-2 of the supporting casters he'll be significanly hampered since he relies on summoning zombies/ growing his ghoul units.

I believe he also runs a couple of corpse carts to shut down other opponents magic phases.

Without wanting to argue...

I would advise the opposite....

Don't wait around, don't let them raise... full tilt at them, even skaven are superior troops to the undead... use your Warlocks and ratling guns to deal with banshees/wraits/vargulfs/bloodknights

Personally i take quite a different list to you - and two of my regular VC opponents are Magic heavy VC.... i tend to outnumber them 2 or 3 to one early on, and so long as i get over there fast enough - it stays that way... his vampires can't be everywhere at once... i feed his scary stuff slaves, while the rest of my army takes apart the skellies, zombies and ghouls as well as any graveguard. vargulf/Knights/blackcoach get multiple ratlings pointed at them...

VC vs skaven is actually usually quite fun... and with Ld10 the skaven are actually pretty damn good at ignoring their strongest power...fear.

Your clanrat units are too small, drop some of the giant rats and expand the units to 30 each to maintain outnumbering and rank bonus.

The Banner of burning hatred would be a better choice for your plague monks, deployed 7 wide with hatred will massacre the undead's basic troops.

I thought about using the BOBH but decided against it because I wanted to have better control over my plague monks, and if they come face to face with ghouls( of other high toughness troops) it will be the static combat res that will win the day.

I originally had 4 units of 30 instead of my current 5 units of 25 but since VC don't have to much shooting I think this should be enough and will give me greater manouverability since flank charges will be vital to the win.

Drop the slaves to units of twenty. He won't have shooting, you won't be needing those extra 5 imo. Which gets you the storm deamon! Hooray!

Your plague monks could use the extra weapon.

Good luck.

Lol wow I didn't realize that I put the slaves unit as 25..... theres actually only 20 in the unit. Also the plague monks do have the extra hand weapon ( i didnt put it down because i figured everyone includes them with the extra hand weapon.) I change the list to make it more clear
Huge Skaven Army for sale. I have built and primed over 4000pts worth of skaven, and have 2500pts of that painted and based. PM me for details if your interested.

Ok tomorrows the big day vs the VC. I'm starting to have doubts about using the rat ogres though. Would it be better to use those points to get the WLC? Also should i drop the giant rats down to 28 and use the 30 pts to pay for storm daemon? Those are my last questions and concerns before the big game tomorrow. Heres my updated list.

Warlord Squeeky (sword of might, heavy armor, shield)- 119

Fryer Tuck the Warlock- (full gear -pistol, Staff of sorcery) -135

Tim the mad Warlock- (full gear -pistol, storm daemon)-110

Joe the banner guy- (banner of the swarm)- 90

25 X 5 Clanrats (banner, musician) -700

20 X 5 slaves - 200

28X 1 giant rats- 120

Looks good, though I would still recommend dropping some of the giant rats for more clanrats to ensure the essential outnumbering and full rank bonuses.
