6k list for my 100th Skaven game!

OK, my 100th game with my Skaven is coming up, and it will be 6k of Skaven going up against 3 2k armies, which will be Vampire Counts, combat-orientated High Elves and Beastmen... My proposed list is as follows:

Warlord (general) w. HA, Weeping Blades, Enchanted Shield and Warpstone Amulet

Warlord w. HA, Shield, Fellblade and Talisman of Protection

Grey Seer on Screaming Bell w. Twisted Crown, EotHR

Grey Seer w. Tenebrous Cloak, Warpstone Charm

BSB w. HA and Swarm Banner

3 Engineer's w. Kit-Pistol. Their Items include Death Globes, Storm Daemon and 3-4 Dispel Scrolls

2 Plague Priests. 1 has Flail, the other 2 weapons and Bands of Power

Assassin w. Smoke Bombs and Warpstone Stars

Chieftain w. HA, GW

30 Stormvermin w. shields, command and War Banner

5 blocks of 30 Clanrats w. command
5 Weapon Teams (3 Rattling, 2 WFT)

4 blocks of 21 Slaves

3 Blocks of 18 Giant Rats

2 PWG's

30 Monks w. 2 weapons, command and BoBH

4 Rat Ogres

2 units of 3 Rat Ogres

2 units of 5 Tunnelers w. poisoned weapons

8 Scouting Gutter Runners w. poisoned weapons and Champion

8 Censor Bearers

2 Doomwheels

DoW Giant


There... Any comments? Im seriously considering taking Thanquol of Ikit Klaw instead of one of my Seers... I know I will be facing alot of Dispel Dice and Scrolls, so the extra magic punch might be useful... Also, we might be increasing the game size to 7k, in which case Ill definately be taking more magic!

Actually I would just take most special characters we have.
In a game this size it will hardly matter but it will give a heroic feel to the battle. It's not as if they're overpowered.

Thanquol on the Bell with his illusions of grandeur, Ikit Claw who believes he's actually calling the shots, while Throt is trying to get slaves for his experiments, and the Headtaker to get the heads of defeated foes.

For your army list:
- Try to add a master moulder to the list, and deploy the Giant Rats and ROgres within his leadership bubble. If there's any place he can be useful it's in a battle this size.
- Give the Charm to the Seer on the Bell. He'll be casting the most and you don't want to cause a STR10 hit on your Bell and most of the unit. :D


Remember, we want pictures, and lots of them. :P

Yeh, I know it would be awesome to use Special Characters in such a game, but I try to refrain from it for 2 reasons:

1) They are expensive in points. To take more than 1 I would have to serverely drop down my models, and I know I will be facing quite alot since there will be 3 armies amassed against me... As fun as they would be to take, I just don't think I could justify spending so many points... -_-

2) I prefer my own characters. Sure, they may not be as strong as the Special Characters, but they have their own stories behind each of them, and have developed a personality of their own over so many games...

I've made a few changes, including adding Thanquol. Thanquol now rides on the Bell and the other Seer has EotHR. To find the points, I dropped the support Chieftain, the Warpstone Thrower and the Scouting Gutter Runners. With that, I also had the points to add another unit of Slaves...

An excellent list Sammy, although I would suggest the addition of some Jezzails to destroy armored opponents. Dropping the four rat ogres for 10 Jezzails would be beneficial.

The team of 8 gutter runner scouts is incredibly expensive and very vulnerable, use nightrunners instead, they are almost as effective in the harassment role and are about 1/3 of the cost.

Overall its not as many models as I would have ideally liked, but its all I own... That is practically my entire collection there minus around 5 models!! :D

I might be wrong here, but can't GS only be the General if there are no Warlords, Or does Thanqual ignore that?

Thanquol has equal LD to a Warlord, so he is a legitimate choice for the General. If he had lower LD, then he wouldnt be able to be the general because other characters would have greater LD.
I think that clause was added in to stop people having both a powerful Mage (Seer) and a hidden general (Chieftain) as both have same LD, so in other armies would be legal, but is too powerful for us due to lead from the back... Plus it fits the fluff perfectly!
