Just curious. Always heard about it, never seen it live and in person. |

Are you asking about the sort of list that would be considered 100% genuine SAD? SAD, IMO, lies in the player, not the army, the army itself is a reflection of the player's mentality, so a cheesy army is cheesy because the player is cheesy. There are shooty armies, and then there are armies that are shooty because the player wants to win asap without the risk of getting into combat. These are SAD armies and usually focus completely on shooting with no point investment into anything else. All shooting that is taken is usually those that cause the highest number of kills or the highest damage, and require little more effort than being in range and rolling the dice. The most definitive skaven SAD would be one that takes as many warlock engineers, ratling guns and jezzails as possible. The only other units are clanrats, and only because they are mainstay and necessary to field the jezzails. The clanrats would be at minimum size and have no other upgrades to keep them as cheap as possible, since they have no function other than to be able to take ratlings. |

Never said SADs were effective. Even under 6th ed it was only effective against opponents who'd just keep on walking straight across the battlefield while getting shot. The SAD was the 2-minute noodle army for winning against beginner players: easy to prepare, easy to use, does the job for now, but has no substance to keep you going in the long term. Armies, like meals, need to be solid, balanced and have real content.

Like I said in a different thread, I need a hard as nails, brutally efficient army for fighting an SoC Demonic Legion player who is very savy. I won't know ahead of time what chaos god he will be bringing (or if undivided), but he generally brings two demon princes, or a DP and a GD (ie two flying nastys). His armies are built to win, with no thought to flavor or fun. |

Okay, so you're planning to use this list to fight that daemonic legions guy. Even if using an unfun powergaming list to counter an unfun powergamer is justified (and I don't think it is, really) the SAD is still not the best for you. A daemon army can get into combat with you pretty quick before you can shoot them all (flying characters, changebringers, furies, khorne chariots, steeds of slaanesh, quite a selection of fast units and flyers). I'll post my suggestions in that other thread. |

That's just it...he doesn't consider anything but losing "unfun". I will probably try a balanced but focused list the first time, but a nasty list would be interesting to have for reference or backup. |

A magic heavy Screaming Bell army might work, though not as reliable, but a really nasty army might be the Horde with Stormbanner. When a daemon already starts of low in numbers, has little by way of shooting (unless going tzeentch heavy) and has to rely on the kill/fear combo to win in CC, an immeasurable tide is a bit daunting. The Horde would be packed with about 250+ models all in faceless units that look like each other (no stand-out elitish unit to concentrate on), a warlord, BsB and chieftains to hold the army together, a stormbanner to nullify flyers, and some throw-away nightrunners to harry the enemy battle-line, bait and march-block. Some people would actually call this army cheesy. The only danger with this army is uncoordinated charges because of failing against fear-causers, and the cascading effect of psych tests and suchlike. |

I don't have the insanity required to deploy 250+ models. lol I do have a very nicely painted previous gen screaming bell, however. Fun with emoticons
