As I've read through Blood Vixen's post in the clan Skryre subforum, where she posted her thoughts to start a clan Skryre army, I got somewhat enthusiastic to pull out my old warlock outfit and do something similar. (Boda and UB know my clan Skryre forces aren't that bad to face... Although that might have more to do with my bad dice rolls, then the setup of the army, I think). Anyways, I took the enthusiasm to the drawing board and came up with the list seen below... It ended up with a fair amount of firepower in the shooting phase (eight globes, two pistols, one ratling, one WFT, six jezzails and the cannon), but the variation should prove to be less destructive (for the opponent, most likely  ) then it looks like on paper. So... Any criticism/ thoughts on the list are appreciated (is it too overpowering, that sort of stuff). Also, I'd very much like it if people know any combination of items that would give some interesting clan Skryre characters, or even *shudders at the idea*... converting options, which would bring my Warhammer models back to the painting corner after a long, long, LOOOOONG absence. Thanks in advance... Looks like a good army to me! Your general's got plenty of protection, which you'll need - though he doesn't actually grant you any benefit, which gives you a bit of freedom to run off and die if need be. Your shooting phase looks good to me - strong, but unreliable and not too beardy. How many dice do you usually roll for the ratling gun? Now that they can be picked out, I suggest 3 or even 4 as standard - you have less turns of shooting, so they need to count. You may wish to consider dropping the jezzails - they're soaking up 100 points of other stuff for what probably won't be a too effective shooting phase - they're only BS3, so you'll only get 1 or 2 hits on average. Alternately, it could be worth dropping one unit of PWGs and upping them to 7 - it's all personal preferance really. All in all, it looks very good, and there's not much advice I can give

The list is pretty good, although I would recommend dropping the pistols, they are an utter waste. Use the points for more clanrats or a small unit of nightrunners. I realize it is a skyre themed army, but switching the second warlock for a chieftain would provide a vastly superior general. If you want to keep the warlocks, you could use the points from the pistols and a globadier or two to get an ultra cheap chieftain for the back rank. As uno mentioned, the Jezzail unit is rather small and unlikely to get its points back. Dropping some globadiers for Jezzails would be beneficial. |

I'm rather new in the forum and in skavens, but i would like to make you a suggestion. Having 4 globadiers means that if 1 dies by shooting or magic, you can panic. And if that unit flees (easy, warlock as a general does not add a nice Leadership, and you have no ranks in the globadiers), you would have to test for near units. And that can be doom. So maybe it's better to have a big unit or no globadiers at all. Those 80 p. gives you a big slave unit, or maybe a second unit of 4 jezzails, that can help you covering wide zones of the field so your enemy won't dare to go that way. Knowing that enemy's heavy troops will be in determined places can help you win the day. |

I most certainly know and acknowledge the fact that using warlock engineers as the only heroes in my force gives me a certain weakness (as was meant when creating this list, as I most certainly know how to create the most hardest lists possible at 1000 points). However, their strength lies in the extended amount of equipment and magic items they can have... Warlock engineers can pick Clan Skryre only items, plus arcane items, giving them an optional bound spell addition through items, in case they need to unleash some devestation on a unit before charging in. In regards, to the shooting phase, I (almost always, depending on whether I haven't misfired yet) roll three dice for my ratling guns. Their concept is to blast the opponent into oblivion, before going up in a puff of smoke themselves. The jezzails are an interesting point. If I face armies that employ heavy cavalry, I'm most certainly screwed. In that case, it certainly is good to exchange some PWGs for more jezzails, which I'll be taking into account. As to them fleeing... Do units under US4 no longer cause panic tests on other units when fleeing? Greetz |

Yes, you're right, i remembered it 5 mins. after posting (i should sleep enough before posting )Anyway, it still seems a weak unit that can panic just receiving a lucky arrow.... The rest seems a pretty solid and powerful list. |

On the other hand, one unit shooting at my PWGs means one unit isn't shooting at my clanrats or weapon teams. ![]() Greetz |
