Greetings-greetings, verminkin.

While building up ==My== horde, I started chatting with the Fantasy players and owner of ==My== FLGS. The 'Ard Boyz came up, which I declined entering due to a severe lack of experience in such games and a critical shortage of models.

Some wheedling later I walk out with a box of Night Runners, a Battalion, and a crazy dream of domination. Here's what I've come up with for the tourney using all available models (including the new stuff). I'm really cleaning out the closet on this one.

Lords/Heroes (1230)
Grey Seer-Screaming Bell, Tenebrous Cloak, Eye of the Horned Rat, Warpstone Charm, 2 Warpstone Tokens (535)
Warlord-Fellblade, Talisman of Protection, heavy armor, shield (199)
Plague Priest-plague censer, Liber Bubonicus, Warpstone Token (136)
Warlock Engineer-full kit (no pistol), Storm Daemon, Dispel Scroll (135)
Assassin-Bands of Power (130)
Chieftain-BSB, War Banner (95)

Core (1104)
Clanrats-30, standard bearer, musician, Warpfire Thrower (240)
Clanrats-30, standard bearer, musician, Ratling Gun (225)
Clanrats-30, standard bearer, musician, Ratling Gun (225)
Slaves-20 (40)
Slaves-20 (40)
Slaves-20 (40)
Giant Rats-2 packs (60)
Giant Rats-2 packs (60)
Night Runners-6, throwing stars (42)
Night Runners-6, throwing stars (42)
Night Runners-6 (30)
Poisoned Wind Globadiers-2 (20)
Poisoned Wind Globadiers-2 (20)
Poisoned Wind Globadiers-2 (20)

Special (686)
Plague Monks-29, 2 hand weapons, full command, Banner of Burning Hatred (282)
Rat Ogres-2 (100)
Rat Ogres-2 (100)
Gutter Runners-6, poisoned hand weapons, tunnelers (102)
Gutter Runners-6, poisoned hand weapons, tunnelers (102)

Rare (479)
Dogs of War Dwarfs-25, heavy armor, shields, great weapons (275)
Plague Censer Bearers-7 (119)
Dogs of War Cannon (85)

Total-3499
Models-293

The Slaves, Dwarfs, and Cannon come from the BfSP box, I'm converting the PWGs from plague monks, and everything else I'll be fixing up (putting together around 100 models).

So, am I totally screwed or will this list stand a chance?

I've always been interested in the 'Ard Boyz Tournaments, unfortunately they don't have them up here in Canada. However, a few points. Put those Rat Ogres together! Otherwise they're going to be shot at, destroyed in a single phase and you're going to be panicing left right and centre. Drop the bands of power on your assasin, you can't use them the turn he appears, and he's not terribly likely to survive much beyond that. At this level it might be a good idea to convert another chieftan and give him the Brass Orb, as there's no doubt that you will be running into 2 Slann armies at the tournaments (with no comp, why the heck not?) and you're going to be able to get those points back thousandfold (think autokill Stank :D).

To get some more models, it might be an idea to paint your slaves as clanrats, and include some of those Gobbos from BfSP as slaves instead, which should help give you more ranked units. It might be an idea to put the Umbranner on the BSB so that the shooting that will be directed towards your bell's unit should be stopped to some degree. I would put the bands of power on the Plague Priest, instead of the Liber, and give him the Warpstone Amulet as well, maybe even switch him to have an AHW too.

Other than that the list looks good, I don't entirely know how well it will do at that high points values and without composition points though. Against a 3500 point empire or Dwarf Gunline I'm not sure how well it would do, the Stormbanner might even be a better idea then the Umbranner. In fact I would say that it's even unbalanced at this level, so definately take it. Keep him in the screaming bell unit so he doesn't flee (Immune to Psych) and has MR2, and you'll be golden actually.

Thanks for the input, it's a daunting thing and I can use all the help I get.

I could drop Assassin for the Brass Orb Chieftain (love it  ) and give the Priest a Languisher Blade and Bands of Power for an assassin-lite. I'll also drop a Dwarf and run them 6x4.

The Gobbos are all ==My== slaves, so I don't have anything left from them except the Spider riders (no spiders, they're chaos hounds) and characters.

That leaves ==Me== 55 points short and virtually no models to use. I could upgrade to the Storm Banner for an early boost against heavy shooting (time to get into position and assault) and use what little shooting I have once it burns out. The cannon probably won't get much action, but it could make for a nice diversion. That seems pretty Skaveny, letting the Dwarfs use their cannon but preventing them from shooting it (mmm...bait).

What about the Warlord? Fellblade is nice and suicidal, but should he take the Enchanted Shield for more reliable armor, stick with the hope for a 6 ward, or just ditch it altogether and accept his fate (buy some points to include a few extra slaves, another GRP, or unit champions).

And is 9-11 PD, 2 bound spells, and 1 scroll going to cut it against the horror I'm sure to face in the form of Tzeentch, Lizzies, HE, and Vamps?

Not a bad list considering your model shortage. Certainly keep the warlord's fellblade with the wardsave, he will have plenty of monsters to kill. Another warlock would be worth considering if you wish to have a powerful magic phase (doubt you will cast many spells with the current combination). The stormbanner would certainly be a good idea as well.

I really like the Brass Orb Chiefy theme-wise (plus it wouldn't cost any extra money) but another Engineer wouldn't hurt. Should I swap the Storm Banner for the Umbranner, give the Grey Seer the Twisted Crown, and replace the Brass Orb with another Engineer (Dispel Scroll and maybe Death Globes)?

I realize this list isn't ideal, but I'm really just throwing in everything I own in order to scrape up enough points. I wish I could incorporate all this nifty stuff (I would kill for Jezzails and a WLC), but I don't want to go broke

Any suggestions within budget and maybe some tactics/tips would be handy. This'll be ==My== first game this size (only having recently started playing 2k games) so anything you've got will help immensely.

Thanks again.

I can drop the Brass Orb Chieftain and a Token from the Grey Seer for another Engineer with full kit (no pistol) and a Dispel Scroll. Plus I can pick up another slave. Sound good?

Definitely do that. If you cannot add more MCU's you might as well bolster your magic phase. Everything else looks good.

Ok, so it looks like I'm replacing the 2nd Chiefy (and losing 5 Dwarfs in the process) with a tricked out Engineer.

Now, should I stick with the Brass Orb (best of both worlds) and give the Seer 2 Tokens or go for Death Globes/Tenebrous Cloak (or Warpstone Amulet) and give the Seer the Twisted Crown. Or should I just go safe and get a Dispel Scroll and Death Globes?

I like the Brass Orb for the havoc it can wreak (will destroy Slaan and Dwarfs) and the sheer hilarity of it, but the Cloak/Globes seems a little more reliable and versatile.

What do you think?

I would say go with the brass orb hands down, at 3500 points there'll be more than enough big nasties to make it worth taking it.
