so i decided that i should try and sort out the confusion that is my skaven models and last night i separated out my various units into separate bags and boxes to help motivate me into painting a unit at a time and also so i can have a easier way to set up my armies from my patented 'whole army in a single bag' system i am so well known for. the problem i have found is that somewhere along the line over the years i have lost/misplaced almost all of my packmasters. i have for some reason only got two original packmasters left and i need at least another 6 maybe more so my question is: what should i use as a base model for skaven packmasters? does anyone have any links or pics of converted packmasters or similar? what is the best sprues for making these guys apart from the obvious new Rat Ogres and Giant Rat Pack sprues. Anyone have some good ideas for making whips etc? thanks |

A neat idea for whips, I've had but haven't practiced yet, is to use some copper wire. If you can manage it right, you should have no problem. |

Copper wire can work, but you have to be able to do it well... it can't look like copper wire. Covering it with greenstuff can hide strange bends in the wire and allow you to carve rope designs onto it... converting whips is very hard. I would honestly just recommend hunting down some of the old metal packmasters and buying those... they look pretty cool, and require much less effort. ![]() If you insist on coverting though... a good base would be Clanrats/Nightrunners... maybe Nightrunner legs (Clanrat legs are horrible) with Clanrats torsos could work... I'd use Plague Monk bodies with spare whips (if you have any) from the Clan Moulder box set... I've needed extra packmasters in the past, and find that they turn out nicely if done in this method... Even if you don't have spare whip arms, I still suggest using Monk bodies but scratch building the whips with wire and greenstuff... - Sammy |

Here's one I've just made by: 1. Cut PM in half above the belt, use bottom, skirted half, 2. Attach armoured CR body, greenstuff back to depict robes underlying the armour & its straps. 3. Add non-festering PM head & arms having replaced staff with whip made by braiding low ampage fuse wire. ![]() ![]() ![]() Hope its of help, oh you need a decent hand vice to hold the fuse wire ends together whilst you braid. |
Currently joint first in PRS points, may as well blow my trumpet whilst I've got one.

I've always used plague monk bodies, replacing one of the swrds with a nightrunner tail - they look fairly good, though you might want to remove whatever is on the top of the tail and replace it with a blade. |
