well, i'm attending a 1500pt tourney on tuesday (with slaanesh beasts i'm afraid  ) but my mate and i are getting some practice games in, and as we've faced each other a bunch of times with my chaos vs his chaos or DE, i figured it'd only be fair to give him a broader experience of armies and take my skaven down for practice. i've never attended a tourney with skaven, and am the only the skaven player at my GW (nobody else has ever got to the 1k pt mark with them, the sheer amount of models scares them after they realise they need another 6-7 boxes of clan rats lol) so i'm wondering if the lists i used to use (am a little out of practice with them) would be the kind of thing you'd expect to see. so, what i'm basically saying, is in the average skaven 1500pt list, for fairly competitive play (so no off the wall stuff) what'd you expect? i've got buckets full of skaven so i should be able to use whatever it is you suggest (unless it's a WFT as i have none. or a WLC, which is bust up atm). so yeah, i guess i could just use an old 2k list of mine and drop some stuff, but i figure it'd be funner this way

Well, I played a tournament a few months ago at 1500 points and this was the list I used. It led me to 2 massacres and a solid defeat (the defeat hinged on about 3 inches on a flee move of a large inner circle knight group w/ general and their subsequent rally test), which was good enough to win me the tournament. It's a good all round list, the only weakness in it might be the rat ogres, however, they really showed how good they are by hitting a unit of ironbreakers on the rear and killing 4 of them to aid me in winning combat, you just have to make sure you screen them right. The only downside to this list is that there isn't a ld6 general, and that some people find 2 Warlock Engineers slightly overpowered at this level. It's got a good model count, increasing the number of slave units might help if you have the models, but keep the 3 mainstay as those units of nightrunners are golden for holding table quarters (other than gnoblars and slaves, is there any other dirt cheap unit that can generate 3x it's victory points just by staying out of the battle and holding/denying a table quarter?). It's done me well in the past, try a turn with it, it would be interesting to see if I just have wicked luck :P. 135pts Warlock Engineer w/ techno(-pistol), storm daemon, dispel scroll 135pts Warlock Engineer w/ techno(-pistol), ring of darkness, dispel scroll 145pts Chieftan w/ BSB, Stormbanner 189pts Clanrats (29) w/ spears, banner, musician 220pts Clanrats (29) w/ banner, musician, ratling gun 220pts Clanrats (29) w/ banner, musician, ratling gun 40pts Clanrat Slaves (20) 30pts Night Runners (6) 30pts Night Runners (6) 30pts Night Runners (6) 150pts Rat Ogres (3) 175pts Plague Monks (20) w/ extra hand weapon, musician, standard Total: 1499pts |
