Hello lads! I'm playing WHFB for about 2 years and finally my path has led me to the skaven. So, this is my first skaven-list ever. My main opponents are the new HE and the new VC. Here we go: Chieftain - 55 points GW, HA, Shield 25 Clanrats - 150 points HW, LA, Shield Full Command 25 Clanrats - 200 points HW, LA, Shield standard, musician + Ratling gun 20 Clanrat Slaves - 40 points HW 5 Night Runners - 35 points HW, extra HW 2 Poison Wind Globadiers - 20 points Total: 500 points This list should also be a solid base for upgrading the army to 1000 and finally to 2000 points. So, what do you think? Greez Scab |

The list does indeed look good and has alot of variety for a 500pt list. However, the most effective 500pt lists are those with less variety, based around 2 decent blocks of clanrats and 2 blocks of Slaves, backed up by a Chieftain and an Engineer OR Rattling Gun (not both). At one GW 'builder' tournament (ie. start with 500pt games and work up through stages with additions of 500pts per level) there were 2 Skaven armies that started in this fashion (1 with engineer (me) and 1 with Rattling gun instead) and in 6 games this army format scored 5 massacres and 1 solid victory. Put simply, Skaven armies like this are very effective in such small games without being cheesey... So my advise is to start with a very basic 500 pt list, then when expanding into 1k and higher games begin adding stuff like the Night Runners, Globadiers and stuff like that. I reckon that'd be most effective, but there is certainly nothing wrong with the list you have now, and it should still work well! - Sammy |

Thanks for the feedback. I also thinh that a second unit of slaves is more useful than the Night Runners and Globadiers, but after painting clanrats and slaves I'm looking forward to paint some Globadiers. But you can be sure, more slaves are coming. Greez Scab |

Certainly a solid start. I agree with Sammy about the slaves, another unit of 20 would be more useful than the globadiers. In my experience a unit of less than 6 globadiers will have trouble inflicting casualties. Best to drop them altogether and take a unit of slaves instead. |

Yeah, you're right. Slaves are more useful. But I need a little break from painting clanrats and slaves. That's the only reason why there are the 2 PWG and 5 NR in the army. Also the Globadiers don't have to do some damage to other regiments. Their main job is to divert some charges from the enemy. Thanks for commenting. Greez Scab |

MIght I suggest dropping something worth 5pts somewhere and grabbing two giant rat packs? In my experience (limited though it is) they're very useful for the +1 bonus for flanking, and are less liable to panic than your 5 Night Runners (Honestly, I'd go for a unit of 7/8 and drop the Globadiers). MY 5c. |
| And just when you thought the Clanrats might win the day, someone reminded you oto fire the Ratling Gun... | |
