Hi, I consider myself a pretty fair player, and I do not like to abuse rules or create "cheesy" lists. However, with my current 2k Skaven list I do go pretty magic-heavy, and I've heard that any list that produces 10+ power dice can be looked down upon.

Anyways, I'll just go ahead and post my list and let yall make the call.

Grey Seer - Extra Warpstone Token, Dispel Scroll, Warpstone Amulet, Warpstone Charm: 320 pts

Warlock Engineer - The Works, Storm Daemon: 110 pts

Warlock Engineer - The Works: 85 pts

Clanrats x25 - Standard, Musician, Ratling Gun: 200 pts

Clanrats x25- Standard, Musician, Ratling Gun: 200 pts

Clanrats x25- Standard, Musican: 140 pts

Slaves x20: 40 pts

Slaves x20: 40 pts

Slaves x20: 40 pts

Nightrunners x8 - Extra Hand Weapons: 56 points

Nightrunners x8 - Extra Hand Weapons: 56 points

Stormvermin x20 - Standard, Musician, Shields War Banner: 200 pts

Plague Monks x20 - Standard, Musician, Extra Hand Weapons, Banner of Burning Hatred: 200 pts

Plague Censer Bearers x5: 85 pts

Skaven Giant: 205 pts

Total: 1997 pts

No, it isn't cheesy. Cheesy is like.. all the casters you have, and then adding 10 Jezzails, and a WLC in the mix withouth the Nightrunners.

I'm not sure, it would really depend on our luck I think if I saw you across the field with that. With you throwing around potentially 7d6 st5 hits a turn, that's enough to destroy some armies without even touching combat, add that to your 2 ratling guns if used correctly...

I think that your list is seriously one-dimensional, relying entirely on one part of the turn to get by (mind you as a tomb king player as well I shouldn't be talking too much ).

I think that if you dropped the second caster and put in a chieftan, bsb, plague priest or something, it might be a little more balanced, also, as you don't have anything longer range than 24" the stormbanner might help you protect your troops, especially in a tournament setting.

Have to agree with what the others have said there are much worse lists you could field. i have one slightly worse than yours which gave me 13 power dice and i had a WLC in there but only one ratling gun - i have never had any problems with the people i play against.

what i have found is that people dont like being out numbered with power dice with the warp lightning spell hanging around.. if you find something in their army like executioners for the dark elves and point out that with out the magic to thin the numbers there is no way you can beat the unit with clan rats and point out that on a roll of 1 for the number of hits WL hits the caster then they normally shut up.

its a case of education - most people only have the reputation of skaven created by power gamers to go by.

There is no cheese.

Really, the word cheese/beardy is over used and mostly by people who haven't even played against the list. Your list is even kind of balanced. Of course you are relying a lot on magic, but a grey seer will do that.
Besides that you have only two engineers, two ratling guns and no jezzails and WLC. You have a fair share of ground forces to back them up although the stormvermin might be a bit to expensive. Maybe switch the unit of another unit of clan rats and a slave unit.

But really, as long as you enjoy the game while believing that your opponent still has a change there is nothing wrong with a list. If people start whining about your list being cheesy just tell them that you could have taken a grey seer, 3 engineers, 2 WLC, 5 clanrats with ratling and a sickening amount of jezzails. That should shut them up. If not just start complaining about their: organ gun, dragon, bolt throwers, slann, skinks, steam tank etc etc etc. Every list has power units so no problem there.

Always remember...there is no cheese.

While I'm not sure I would agree that "there is no cheese" this list is far from "horribly broken and unfair". ;)

Just remember that magic is the only thing you have to deal with dragons, giants and other nasty long-reach things. Magic can be negated... Imagine a High-Elf list with a dragonmage backed by two regular ones (the high elf mirror-version of your list). That army would not only fly around and cause terror all over the place, eating clanrats and ratling guns alike, you'd also be stuck casting warplightning on 12+ or more... You'd be slaughtered. :)

I'd add some jezzails to the list, there's no dispelling jezzail shots. :)

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

While I do agree that a powerful anti-magic army like High Elves would give my list a lot of trouble, it is a pretty fun list to play and it's given me a lot of success.

And about jezzails, well I actually don't have any! Those things are too expensive! I've been thinking about converting some jezzails out of Clanrats and Empire Handgunners, how many do yall think I should make? 5? 10?

P.S. I know the Stormvermin aren't cost-effective, but they're fluffy and I like the models :P

5 is enough to kill small (dragonmage/zombiedragon) dragons or around 10 black knights in a game, 10 is what you'll need when people start fielding stardragons and big blocks of bloodknights. :) Adjust as necessary for what people use where you play. ;)

No, not a cheesy list. Although I think it would be more effective if you took a BSB instead of one of the warlocks and expanded your stormvermin and clanrat blocks.

You've got nearly 50% Core. This list hits hard magically but isn't cheesey.

You're splitting 10 powerdice between 3 casters with one bound item, it is not overpowered (thats about 3-5 spells a turn). Granted you've got the potential to use all of your warptokens though I doubt you'd use them in one phase. A Chaos Tzeentch army can mount 20+ power dice in a 2k game effortlessly and not be cheesey.

You've got a very balanced army. One that is going to have to fight combats and get close in order to use any form of shooting. That being said, I would get a naked BSB and put him in the back of your stormvermin or a characterless clan rat unit.
