Thanks! Sure Wage, I just randomly doodled that. ![]() The thing about the rat dart is that I still wouldn't consider it extremely wrong, because it's not a way to cheat the rules, like intentional misjudging catapult ranges to hit non-LoS units. It's one of those things that use the constraints of the system to maximize game benefits. Like putting weaponteams between two close units so any enemy unit that attempts to charge the weaponteam would touch the neighbour units. And conga lines, etc. It's the sort of thing that won't get you chucked out of a tournament, but will affect your soft scores. |

I could actually see that happen in reality. Machine gunners get charged, but a nearby covering unit intercepts the charge (WH turns are just an abstraction, all units are probably already moving). Just a thought. I guess it's just a part of the game that makes a bit less sense, like sliding/clipping/... |

What? That's not a viable tactic? I thought it was, now I was planning on something like this but a bit different with units, is that still bad form? (Is it called clipping?) On topic: How about 1 pack aranged 2x3.5? [r][r] [r][r] [r][r] [p] |

Wow, I seriously had to sit back and laugh that one off for a while scriv. I love your sketch. Wish I had 1/2 your talent/creativity. That sketch would take me a while to do, lol... and mine still wouldn't look 1/2 as good. |

Well, the sheltering weaponteams thing is a viable tactic, but that's kinda my point that rat darts are technically viable as well. It doesn't really break any rules. The rat darts are just frowned upon by tournament players and puritan players because they capitalize on sneaky, meta-game techniques like relying on being 1 model wide to minimise possible loss of models. If by clipping you mean chargers who try to avoid getting full base contact, that's illegal now with sturdier 7th edition rules on that issue, so definitely not viable. |

It actually happens quite regularly. - Imagine 2 units combocharging another, only to have 1 of them break. You now have 2 halved frontages (or even less) fighting each other. Especially with Giants & Chariots stuff like that tends to happen. (C:Clanrats,GG:Giant, O:Orcsies) _CCCCC___ _______GG_ OOOOOO___ || V - Also with pursuits & overruns when another unit can be charged but only barely because of distance rolled(including the free wheel). Or because there is simply no room to wheel (Only 1" away, scenery,...) The new rules do all they can to minimize stuff like that but it still happens in some games. |

The basic answer to all these metagaming suggestions, is that if you really need to do that you are (i) playing at a level waaay above the rest of us, or (ii) you are playing at a level way below the rest of us. A mate if mine had a saying for the latter option: "Use all the funky rules you want, but when I get that flank charge off, your unit is going out in a bag" |
