I have a Plague Priest dedicated to Treeman hunting. How should I equip it? Flail? Weeping Blades? Any defensive gear?

Shennanigans are out of the question!
Honestly, the only consistent luck Ive ever had taking down a Treeman comfortably was with a Warlock Engineer.

9+ Warp Lightning makes Treemen look like little chumps. Warpfire Throwers are VERY helpful too (d3x2 wounds).

In terms of your question, I would probably give him the Warpstone Pendant (only way he will stay alive half the time), and Either the Sword of Might or the Blade of Nurglitch.

His T6 and W6 is going to be the hardest thing for you to contend with in close combat, so I would probably go after the Blade of Nurglitch as it will soften the Treeman up for every other unit in your army (that Priest is likely going to die one way or another).

But the priest has S4, so I first need a 6 to start Nurglitch's blade effect.

You could give him the blade of desolation, to even the S and T, but then all you can get for protection is a 6+ ward, which will probably not even save 1 of his 2 wounds.

You do get 4 attacks, which gives you a pretty good chance to get at least 1 wound.

In that case shouldn't I just go for a Flail? It gives the +2 S, costs only 4 points, and leaves me with 50 points to buy equipment?

I suppose, but I personally wouldn't care for the odds in the second and third rounds of combat.

The best combination would likely be an extra hand weapon, bands of power and the warpstone amulet.

With 5 s8 attacks the priest would likely put a few wounds on the treeman. A few wounds is probably the best you can hope for though, treemen are killing machines. I would be very surprised if the priest survived more than a round of combat.

To stand a chance of actually killing the treeman you would need either the fellblade, or weeping blades and bands of power, however you would need a warlord or master assassin to use those combinations.

plague priest + brass orb gives you a 66% chance of killing it if you hit. skitterleap him into range and hoe for the best.

the pope-mobile is the only thing ive seen that can go head to head with a treeman.

By pope mobile you mean...?

Im pretty sure 10 jezzials in a unit can blast apart a treeman with ease. Armor modifier... 6 strength... just hope for good rolls on the BS and your good to go

2d6 S5 hits does a REALLY good job. One or two castings of Warp Lightning always makes Treemen cry and become firewood for my Grey Seer's hovel.

First of all, if it's a treeman lord you simply won't be able to take him down with a hero since you will 6 to hit it. If it's a regular treeman it's still pretty hard even if plague priest is one of the best fighty hero you will abolutly need a ward save. So a warpstone amulet is needed. Now you only have 25 points left for the weapon so take a plague censer or a sword of might for the continuous 1 strenght.

Now I must say it still seem a bad idea since you will need some kind of unit to "deliver" it a the treeman otherwise the roots shoot might kill you and if you lose combat even once you will have to flee beacause of terror.

Overall either shoot it with your engineer/jezzail/canon or tie it up with a clanrat unit.
I have a few bare metal dark elf model for sale, if interested pm me.

A Large Target with T6 and a ward save that doesn't work on magical attacks?

pope mobile = Empire Arch lector of sigmar on the war altar with van horstman's speculum. 255 points, but it will kill any of the big characters in the game.

Forget the priest. Charge him with a unit of slaves. Better to kill the BSB... -_-
