Inquisitor News

Robey Jenkins, through his rather excellent Inquis Ex Officio newsletter has let me know about some Inquisitor events - one now in the past, one still in the future - which he has given me permission to reprint here. So, over to Robey:

INQUISITOR GRAND TOURNAMENT 2007
Our first ever such event had a smaller turnout than I was hoping for, with only ten players turning up to battle it out for the title. But what we lacked in quantity was more than made up for by quality. The Warhammer World staff outdid themselves, finding some terrific terrain for us. Although it was designed for Necromunda and the doors were, therefore, a little on the short side, I don't think any of the players were in the least bit bothered - proving that having dedicated 54mm terrain is definitely an optional extra for good gaming.

There were renegade smugglers, rogue psykers, radical inquisitors, dangerous aliens... you name it, it crawled out of the deep dark corners of the Imperium. Even the Traitor Legions showed their twisted and hateful faces in a moment of high drama punctuated from a cry of "MUAHAHAHA!!" from Game Master, Tony Wallace. No surprise that Tony took the award for Best GM away at the end of the day.

Modelling and painting standards were high across the board with tremendous imagination shown by all players (I don't think there was a single unconverted model to be seen). Dave "Kaled" Knowles was undisputed master of modelling, though. His Ogryn BONEhead, under the leadership of the accident-prone Inquisitor Drake Kaled, wowed not only the other participants but the Warhammer World staff as well. As well as Best Hobbyist, Dave would also claim the Third Place certificate for the day itself - a major achievement for a self-confessed novice!

There was a wide variation in playing styles, with those who relied on firepower and combat failing to make much of a mark on their testing objectives which strongly favoured players with a more imaginative approach. Free runners would have been delighted by the sight of characters leaping, climbing and swinging across gaps between buildings - Casino Royale has nothing on us! But it was Ross Webb who came out on top as Best Player, and Second Place overall.

Lunch was a hurried affair, split between munching down in the GW staff canteen (now open on Saturdays for Warhammer World players) and mulling over the fiendishly tricky "Inquisition" - a test of general Inquisitor knowledge that had even the biggest fan scratching his head. Neil Bass can be proud of solving an impressive 16 out of 25 of the most devious questions an Interrogator ever had to answer. Neil's victory was also enough to win him the Overall Winner prize and the title of Honorary High Lord. Congratulations, Neil!

I'd especially like to thank Andy Joyce and the Warhammer World staff, who outdid themselves both with the tables and helping judge the modelling contest.

The next Inquisitor Grand Tournament will be on Saturday 13 December 2008, with tickets going on sale in July/August 2008.

SPRING CONCLAVE 2008
For those of you who can't wait a whole year for your fix of mass Inquisitor mayhem, the Spring Conclave is coming up! On Saturday 28 March 2008, at Warhammer World, players will gather in an epic test of their skills, with the day supervised by veteran Excruicator (he says he's a dental surgeon but we all know what he means) Ruaridh Dall. Unlike the tournament, there're no charges and no prizes other than the fun of being there!

There's a good chance that this event will begin with a social gathering (over-18s only, please!) on the evening of Friday 28th March and may well continue over to Sunday morning.

Anyway, that's your lot for this issue of Inquis Ex Officio. But remember, if your club plays Inqusitor, let us know, especially if you've got a new campaign planned or want to drum up numbers to introduce some new players. Let me know if you know anyone else who would like to be included on the Unofficial Inquisitor Mailing List!

Farewell, and remember: Everything you have been told is a lie!

If you're still reading this then I'm gonna reward you with a little news titbit. On Wednesday I'll be publishing a download that I think will be our most popular ever. If your heart is green and you like going fast, then you're not going to want to miss this...

For now,
Andy @ Fanatic

It's good to see that yet another Specialist Game is proving to be a success on a Grand Tournament level. I mean, this October we had the Blood Bowl world cup in Warhammer World, which was the biggest tournament ever in terms of the amount of players that participates. (Always fun, to have a Specialist Game poking out the eyes of a core game when it comes to popularity *cackles madly*...). Still, it appears that next to Blood Bowl, Warmaster and Epic (who both have their own Grand Tournaments), Inquisitor is now joining up on this list. Jup, only a matter of time now and then we see Fanatic taking over Games Workshop.

Oh, and before I forget: WAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

Only one day and then GorkaMorka will be published online! ^_^ Tee-hee...
