Welp, I've been browsing rumors, sniffing at leads and listening to talk, and from most of the places I visit, there seems to be a general consensus that the Assault Phase (Particularly combat resolution) will be getting changed to be similar to Fantasy. And most of these people seem to dislike that idea. I love it. I've played 40k for two years now, Fantasy only for 3 months, and I love how combat works and is resolved in Fantasy far more so than 40k. Anyone else like the idea for a new CR method? Could it draw hardcore Fantasy-go-ers into 40k? Will it ruin the uber-leet-sooper-doober-oober-pooper Marine turds? |

Your living a pipe dream if you think that'll ever happen Personally it sounds to me like it would help, if they could pull pissed-off fantasy players back (like me ) it would be grand. Really who would you loose but a few of them whiny SM players

Really? 4th edition came out not long ago, and they haven't cycled through all the armies yet. So won't it be years before that comes out. Besides, 40k is meant to be the easier, or some people say, watered down version of Fantasy. CR can be quite complicated. I doubt they'll do anything that makes sense/realistic in 40k rules, only game balance. I got that idea ever since I found that the protection given by cover is negligible in most circumstances unless you play IG or Tyranids or Orks. Won't it make more sense to have the armor save, THEN the cover save too? That makes players, like in the real world, race for cover and not charging across the plains relying on their 3+ armor save. ........Then again......hand weapon and shield is better than spear against calvary in Fantasy........ Urgh......I dunno why I'm still playing......... But back on topic, if that is really implimented then combat will be much more balanced. Better than 300 Fire Warriors fighting a chaplain then lost combat and fled and the 300 firewarriors were routed by one guy. (I know it's impossible to have a unit of 300 FW, but the idea is there) |

To be honest Im not all that sure how the current 40k combat res is calculated I dont play 40k often, only Apocalypse, but I dont think I like how the current Combat Res works, and I think making it more like Fantasy in several ways would prove to be a real benefit for the game. I'd also like to see Invulnerable saves changed to be like Ward Saves, and agree with the previous thing said about cover saves... Another rumour Ive heard is that they'd be changing all Tanks and Vehicles to suffer damage the same way as Super Heavies, so that Stunned and Shaken only applies to 50% movement or a single gun. This would be a real benefit for Imperial Guard tanks, as it means even if the Leman Russes Battle Cannon gets shaken, it may still fire sponsons... Im not sure how accurate this rumour is, but it sounds like it would be good. - Sammy |

Combat Resolution in 40k works out to 'Who Killed More'. So even if you swamp a Space Marine Turd unit of 6 marines with 50 Imperial Guard and kill one of them, if he kills Two Guardsmen, the imps 'lose combat'. That doesn't amuse me, though thankfully I use Tyranids, and when one has Synapse... morale and fear is a non-issue...

There is also the rumor that any vehicle in close combat that gets hit is considered to be struck in the rear, so it'll be easier to pop tanks in that regard. |

One of the dumbest thing of the 40k rules just mentioned. "Zomg, I only got a 5+ save! Oh but im behind a rock which have 4+ woho. But I have to throw of my armor to use the stone! Boo :(" Anyway, I don't think 5th ed is comming about to soon ethier. |

Respected internet sources are claiming it will be out either for summer or for the UK GT. Heck, they are already talking about what is going to be inside the new system box set: Marines and Orks. A SM Dreadnought is expected to be included as well, I believe. Bah, enough of me trying to remember this crap. 5th Edition 40k is believed to be coming out at the end of the coming summer. Along with a bunch of new gear and such. it hink some of the rules will be good (Particularly with tanks and such), but will be nerfing some other things. It's a big mixed bag... I'm wary but eager to see what the game will become. |

I'm just kinda annoyed at the fact that I had finally decided to buckle down and get my Eldar army finished and start playing 40K, but I don't know if I want to do that now. I think I might as well just wait for 5th Edition to come before I try and learn the game. |
