Although most of us play our Mordheim games in a league, it sometimes happens that people can only play single games and then the option comes up to play one-off games. This means that stat-increases and skill can be bought, increasing the size of each warband towards the 1000 goldcoins. Something I'm very interested in is what people see as proper Skaven warbands for these games and why? Greetz |

Well, I've only ever once played a one-off game... gotta' say, they're not as fun. ![]() However, I found that Rat Ogres are definitely a no-no, as their stupidity makes them rather.... useless and it costs too much for this. I usually give Black Skaven and AA an extra wound, and usually an extra attack at the least, but otherwise keep the charatter setup normal (for me, althoug I couldn't figure out what to do with the Night Runners... it actually might be better to just drop them if you aren't giving them stat increases, as Verminkin are slightly better for the same price)... And add more Verminkin. Max out models... fill in spaces with Giant Rats. It worked pretty well... I won. ![]() Pillz |

Rat Ogres are in my opinion in normal league games not that great either... Due to them not levelling and being large targets, they're quite an expensive investment, which might be lost with relative ease. In the end, they're listed as henchmen, meaning that them going OOA gives you a large chance of losing a crapload of gc! Night runners would be nice as fire support though... Since they're heroes, they've got access to the hero equipment list AND skill as well, making them fairly decent human ratling guns (combine slings with balistic skill upgrade and quick shot). *ponders*... Hmm, scratch that, it appears that in the latest errata, that skill only counts for bows or crossbows. Greetz |

The only big guy I know that is impossible to get killed is the troll in the night goblin warband (due to its regeneration skill), but as far as I know, rat ogres are treated just like henchmen, which means you've got 1/3rd chance of losing it, when it goes OOA. Trust me, playing against shooty warbands makes that a costly experience. *groans*... Greetz |
