would you consider VC a horde army? Loads of skellies and zombies would make it look like one, but you can just as easily make a small elite VC force (though it wouldnt play well). If your not doing a horde army, then that leaves empire and dwarfs (and a knight-based brentonian army... but ehhh). Out of those 2, id go empire, lots of variety and very easy to make your own (who doesnt make their own provinces :P)

Ogres can be semi-hordish. You can only take a unit of Gnoblars for every unit of Bulls you have, and many Ogre Kingdom players prefer to take Ironbreakers instead of Bulls. If you don't like to paint flesh, you could always model fur or some other type of covering onto them. Since Ogres are so much bigger than your standard models, it is much easier to do.

Undead can do a the horde idea. It is often done by Necromancer/Necrarch armies. They summon massive numbers of Zombies and/or Skeletons.

Actually, there are plenty of Vampire Counts players who take small, elite armies and do quite well. This is due to the fact that their elite troops are not going to panic off the board... they must be killed. Also, those same elite armies are still capable of summoning massive numbers of Zombies and/or Skeletons to build up their numbers.

do you mean iron guts?

if i do get an ogre army i would'nt include any gnoblars as even thought they can be used as a screen they will just slow the whole army down.

Lol, yeah, whoops. Guess the Dwarf side of my personality was dominant when I made that post :P

Btw ... something I never heard from anyone about Ogre Kingdoms and Gnoblars but can't help but notice. Ogres are M6 so they have a 12" charge. Most units roll 2D6 to persue, thus a max of 12". If such a unit were to face some gnoblars and persue them, if some ogres happened to be about 12" behind those gnoblars, the enemy unit would more than likely be within charge range of the Ogres. And since gnoblars can just sit back and throw rocks at people, you can make sure the combat that broke the gnoblars is on your turn so that the following turn you can make use of the charge range.
