Hi all. I want some better ogres in my army (not the overpriced ratogres). Also I rarely use my rare slots so I alway's have a spare rare slot. So it comes to this question. What do you prefer 3 Ironguts or 4 bulls?.. |

I tested this out on an O.K player and he has decided to be akward and pick the 4 bulls When poked, he says Iron Guts are technically better but 3 of them don't have the weight of attacks to overcome combat resolution. So there's one for you who'd pick the bulls, but adds that if he could he'd take 4 Iron Guts instead of 3. So make of that what you will! |

As an ogre player, I say...Ironguts! Skaven are just lacking in the high strength hth category (no slight on our PCB's out there!). Three ironguts in the flank of a unit (which is where you want them) negates rank bonus and lends a serious "crunch factor" to those heavily armored units. Consider making your ironguts with regular rat ogre heads and tails, and making some simple fur from green stuff! Cheers! |

I've just come back from another massacre for my Hellpit.. and I can tell you this.. Augmented rat ogres... which are S6 4+save.... are the bomb. just throw them in alongside a ranked up unit for +5 static combat rez (unit) backed up by about 4 kills (ROs), nothing on this earth is going to stand up to that*. These are almost identical to ironguts, except that Ironguts get 3 St4 hits before the combat even starts. *OK an exaggeration, but Chaos Warriors didn't |

All hail the Age of Skaven

bulls will give you a more suvivable unit while ironguts will give you a more choppy unit its effectively saying plague monks or storm vermin with shields but with ogres |

Ironguts all the way: They have a better chance of not running away(higher Ld) Let's see them fight orcs: 4 bulls with extra handweapon will have 16 attacks, hit 8 and wound 4 3 ironguts will have 9 attacks, hit 4,5 and wound 4 When the armour saves get better, the ironguts get better. Both bulls and ironguts will not win combat against a full block of infantry head on. Ironguts have better AS against shooting. They both start panicking at one model down. Ironguts all the way ( did I said that already?) |

i would go for iron guts they are generaly better and even though you only had three of them it means that they can always rally. |

ya I know (that Ironguts are better). I have already converted 3 bulls to 3 irongut (rat ogres with great weapons), ill try to post some pics later. I used them too last week and they did great. They held the centre of the battlefield for 2 turns xD. It was against a VC player and I charged his skellies in the flank. A lot died (due to crumble) but still after the charge about half of the unit was left. Of course the guy started resurrecting 2D6 on skeletons on the unit (like 2 times).. And his grave guard charged in the flank of the irongut. These guys only gave 1 wound to 1 of my ironguts and I just ignored the Grave guard and chopped up more skellies (you got to love hitting on a 3+ against ws 2 models). It was pretty hilarious because of the irongut holding these units up there were 2 nice flanks open the next turn  . I DEFFENETlY prefer these guys over ratogres. To be honest it feels like there is no reason to field rat ogres I mean these guys are inferior to ironguts on almost all fields (except that they use a special slot and or you don’t have rare slots). |
