I once saw this amazing nids army that had everything painted orange and then dipped in some sort of red ink. He said it wasn't finished and he still needed to do a lot of details, but damn that army looked like a hell-spawned nightmare just with those two colours allready. Nids are indeed good candidates for this aproach.

I don't really like dipping in general as it just looks so obvious and on some things it doesn't suit the model. But on nids it really looks fantastic and is definitely recommended for speed painting and achieving a uniform look to your models. Like here. Or here. Possibly kroot, too. I think it looks best on organic, gribblier things. |

I played one apocalypse game against a good friend of mine a month ago. My 3500 pts of tau vs. 5000 pts of Chaos. It was fun, but its not something I want to do every weekend, that game was 8 hrs. We're planning another battle for the 30th, and I'll be adding his IG list to my Tau making it 6000 pts per side. I enjoy the Apocalypse rule set more than the standard 40k, it just works. That and it makes my friend happy to be able to use his entire army (actually I don't think it was everything he has). Thats really the draw for us to play, neither of us are powergamers, its purely a fluff driven story played for the joy of the game using craploads of models .That's really the key to enjoying apocalypse, great friends. I have opponents (not necessarily friends) that I will never play that that big of a game against, because it would be torture to have to argue with them for 8-10 hrs. Anywho, I like it once in a while with friends and beer (damn I forgot to mention the most important ingredient, always add beer with friends). |

i have a nids apocalypse army (or as we call it apoc-a-lot-o-bitz). my 1000 points for joining with others is 1 trygon, 12 raveners and 11 spore mines (ish - cant rembember excatly how many spore mines i planned in). if im not allying i have 3 mega carnifex's of death my above 1000 pts, a couple of lictors, two large broods of stealers, 100 + gaunts and hormagaunts with the never ending swarm (great fun the rules for them... if you roll 5 or more 6's you run out of ammo and they just come back on at the other end when they are dead) i have 3 warriors with the plan to get more, some biovores and a sea of never ending spore mines (lat time i worked it out i dumped about 150 units of 3 onto the field.... the IG hate it! i play the way i feel nids would actually work, i throw the endless swarms on at the start with either my hive tryrant or my warriors and a carnifex. second turn there is the rain of spore mines and my trygon using the re-rolls for turning up that my lictors give as she starts in normal reserve. my third turn my last fexes, stealers and my warriors / hive tryrant which ever wasnt used come on (fex's & stealers flank march) and then my two units of raveners appear from the big hole in the ground the trygon left (hope fully right in the middle of their troops. lots of models but i have a simple red and black colour scheme which makes them quick to paint. |

Daniel cannot possibly exist in a dimensional state. Recent studies show that people who have attempted to comprehend Daniel have either disappeared, died spontaneously, or driven themselves into a pertinent state of insanity and/or catatonia. <img src="http://www.heresy-online.net/daemons/adoptables/23041.gif" alt="Broken Adoptable Image" /><br><a href="http://www.heresy-online.net/daemons/levelup/23041-dark-whisper.htm" title="Level up this Daemon!">Level up Adoptable!</a> | |

i plan to build both my fledgling eldar & tyranid forces upto apocalypse level... (i've even got the lists all don up!) the eldar will be composed of 3 playable armies; a) seer congress & ghost warriors avatar & aspect warriorsc) autarchs & guardians + vehicles the 'nids will simply be 1 of each formation excluding the hivemind brood as i have a personal distate for the zoanthropes... still, i'll have on top of the endless swarm, subterranian swarm & mysectic assault a hivemind force of warriors & tyrants + a gargoyal swarm + 1500pts of genestealers led by a broodlord! all told the 'nids will come out to 5500pts in the end! cheers! |
