Does anyone around here play 40k Apocalypse? Im not a big fan of 40k at all, but I really like Apocalypse due to the scale and brutality of it all. Infact, I think 40k works better in the Apocalypse ruleset rather than in ordinary sized games. But does anyone here play it? What armies, or combinations of armies, do you use? What Super-heavies? What game size? I usually play with 2-3 other gaming buddies. My army is Imperial Guard with some Marine support. Im building a Marine force based on the Terran Marines from that great old game Starcraft, and want a full company of them, though the army is still smallish now. My IG however are at around 6k, with 17 Tanks and 2 Super Heavies, and Im aiming for more! By the end of it all, I dare say my Apocalypse army will be 15000pts!! I want to make an Army Diary for this, as although its already huge, it still has so much more coming to it! So, whats your army? - Sammy |

Well, currently building my regular Tyranid swarm for 2000, then I'll be moving into Apocalyptic terrain in the distant future... For 2000 points htough, I'll have 6 tooled-up warrior, a Hive Tyrant, 3 Zoanthropes on the board, leading a swarm of 6 Devil raveners, 32 Spinegaunts, 32 Termagaunts and 64 Hormagaunts. And from there, my plan is to double the Gaunts, add three more broods of Raveners and a Trygon... as well as about a dozen Carnifexes

I'd love to say I have an apocolyspe army..but unfortunatly im far off =( I onl have 500 points of Witch hunters, I'm planning on upping it to 1k (as soon as thers a price drop so ican afford to play ). I have about 750 points worth of Witch hunter models that i'm not actually using in my army.I also plan on creating an imperial gaurd army (of which i have 4 complete models of ) which will be of around 1-1.5kThen adding a baneblade converted into soemthing like a mobile church for my sisters. Using rules from White Dwarf i can then field about 12 Hounds (not sure of the actual name given to them in the WD issue ) some Zealots.Thats around 3.5k so i'd probaly have to team up with someone in an apoc game. I could include alot of zombies..but thats a bit out of charecter ![]() I'd really love to play some apocolyspe games. But Alas... i dont ahve the models for it.. Nor the money to buy sucha big army or the time to paint it

I'm currently working very hard to finish my 1k tau army for an apocalypse megabattle at the store next weekend. The apocalypse rules and the ginormous tanks look totally awesome to me and I can't wait to see which armies will be playing as well. I doubt I'm going to expand my army after I finish it though. I've got so many more unpainted armies on the shelf that it'll easilly take me another few years before I'll let myself start on that again.. <_< . I totally love the new apocalypse box set with the 3 tau tanks though. If I didn't already have a hammerhead+devilfish at the time it came out I would have definately gotten it. It's great for starting tau players. Perhaps an even better purchase than the battalion box. |

Dont worry Mebob, such armies dont come together overnight. Its taken me many, many years to accumulate such a large army. I started my guard a few years before plastic Cadians were released, and slowly built them up over the years. I never thought Id have an army this size, but its amazing what Ive managed to collect in the 11.5 years Ive been gaming... MUtATE: @ Bodacious:Yeh, the Apocalypse sets were great! I got the Basilisk set, and for Christmas am getting the Leman Russ set! - Sammy |

Personally, I'm not really thinking about getting an Apocalypse army. Sure the tanks and things would be cool but... to paint it all, well that's off putting. Also I'd most likely get a Necron force and the idea of having a large army with so little variation is not the most appealing. (Mutters offside:They could have brought out some more models for Necrons other then a slightly different lord and that :: Clicks fingers:: Oh what's it called... Necron Pylon). Besides, we'd have to get a bigger table at the store... then there wouldn't be enough room for use. |

Im trying to, and im also starting a new chaos army for it. Which will have a small conginent of chaos nids I might also add my traitor guard into the fray and have a nice 4k army, bringing all three to 2k would give me a 6k army, but cash slaps me across the face and says no in a commanding voice...

i would love to play an apocalypse game, the HUGE tanks, the HUGE armies and the HUGE amount of models dying in one shot! Seriously though i never think i would be able to paint that amount of models. I feel sorry for armies such as 'nids with about a million models to paint. |

Well, a 'nid player could always basecoat and then dip their models Never tried/seen it done so idon't know what the results woul be. But I'd imagine its a quick way to paint an army .
