Well, look at the past three years, gamesworkshop has been makin a new expansion for warhammer or 40k during the summer (well winter over here..) Started with Lustria, with rules for fighting in jungles and 2 alternative army lists. Then Cities of death, revvised rules for fighitng in cities. Now this year Apocolyspe, rules for fighting large mega battles in a reasonable amount of time. So what do you think awaits us in the following year? And what wouldyou like to see? (for 40k and fantasy) Personally i believe the next expansion will be for Fantasy. I heard rumours a seige expansion being realeased this year, but when this expansion was rumoured to be releasedd, Apocolyspes was released instead. So maybe they'll release it next year. What i'd like to see as an expansion would be maybe fighting in swamp lands or seafights, like an expansion dedicated to battles by sea with rulesfor sea monsters and race specific boats. If it was 40k i'm not to sure what i'd want it to be, maybe fighting on deathworlds? I've always wanted to play a seige in 40k tho ![]() I'd actually prefer it if they went back to making campaign books like they did with the Storm of Chaos and eye of terror. As next years campaign will be 40k (or even lotr) then say the campaign was of a Tyranid invasion, gamesworkshop could make a campaign codex which gives you rules for special lists of the armies involved and rules for fighting on worlds that are/have been digested by the hive fleet. Theres jsut a few of my ideas. What would the denzins of the underempire want as gameworkshops next expansion book? Maybe underground fighting?

I personally wouldn't mind a fantasy expansion. They did, after all, make apocalypse this year for 40k. I would love to see a siege addition, and since Mythic is making WAR you know it will have loads of rvr and pvp after DAoC, which may perhaps add incentive or inspiration to GW. And well, I used to play LotR minis and the siege rules in there worked fine. The only thing that would make it difficult in fantasy are of course the unit blocks, which is probably why they don't have it right now. |

I'd like to see Warhammer Seige brought back. The 5th edition seige rules were very decent, but it kind of disintegrated during 6th-7th editions, without dedicated books or anything. I think it would be awesome if a seige book and models were brought back. I'd like to see a Fantasy version of Apocalypse, but dont think it would work well at all. With magic and stuff it would make it just too awkward to do really large scale games... For 40k, I have no idea what the next expansion will be. Im perfectly content with Apocalypse for now, and think GW will be too... - Sammy |

Interesting question. I think I'd rather see a siege expansion, the back-of-the-rulebook 6:ed rules works ok, I guess. But it would be really nice to see a dedicated book, where they expand on those rules. I'd also like to see new minatures and stuff for siege games, like race specific siegetowers and stuff like that. It would be interesting to see a mega battle rules system for fantasy too, but as Sammy said there are a lot of problems to overcome. I don't think fantasy sized boats would be very fun, but a reintroduced Man-O-War would of course be fantastic |

@Sammy: Seeing how the rules have been taken out of the big red rulebook, I think it's quite likely we can expect a Warhammer Siege supplement. @Borka: Check the Specialist Games forums... At this point Fanatic has been releasing quite a few old Games Workshop games through PDF format, so I think we might be expecting Man o' War one day as well. Greetz |

Siege would be pretty cool.... but I would prefer a naval expansion (although there are naval rules in the General's Compendium.... :P, so I don't think that'll be it) Pillz |

Does it count as still needed if it's already been released in internet format? Denizens of the Deep is based around making underground Warhammer campaigns. Although I've never tried it, it looks like great fun! I don't really think we need much more for Siege, a copy of the 6th ed. rulebook and the General's Compendium is all you really need for awesome sieges! And sea battles too. In fact, can we hope they just don't do anything ever and just leave things in the very capable hands of the (technically unofficial) Compendium? That would make me happy!

If not doing another expansion would speed up the release of our 7th edition book (and the others), I'd be all for no expansions. While I love reading the Lustria and Storm of Chaos books, I hate the questions that come with fielding those armies when we move to a new edition. For example, how do High Elves use the Lothern Seaguard army from the SoC book now that they have a new army book. How about Orcs & Goblins? Same will be for our Bubonic Court and SoC Eshin armies when our next edition army book comes out. I will say though, I am with the people for the General's Compendium and the Chronicles. I like the ideas they give for people to use in their own House Rules and such. The campaign rules from the General's Compendium were my favorite as I love having each battle affect the next and so forth. |

@Vermitt Stain: WAR = Warhammer Age of Reckoning... Try a Google search. @Lord Lughtigern: You actually think Games Workshop will give us the option to perform sieges with the rules from the 6th edition rulebook and the General's Compendium, not making a (pricey) expansion for it, we'd have to buy in order to play sieges under the 7th edition?... Sure and the Easter Bunny actually exists. Greetz |

I think it says in the compenduim that these rules are unnoficial, meaning that gamesworkshop can still release "official" expansions for the topics covered in it. so Naval battles and seiges are still a possiblitiy ![]() An apocolyspes verion of warhammer i doubt will work as well as 40k With 40k you could ahve super heavies that would pick up a kill count pretty quickly. But if they remove the forceorganisation chart like wth apoc, imagine the amount of pour bolt thrower armies we'd meet? (well not speciffically pure boltthrower, but you get the idea) And you would have to have casters, imagine fighting a magic heavy army with 40 odd power dice and all you have is a duo of engineers? Although i sure apocolyspe would of had simmular doubts at first ^^ The naval battles and seige sound more appealing to me. Imagine all the boats they'd release

Actually come to think of it, i'd rather much have Specialist games make a comeback than another expansion seems as they've kindoff died down over the past year or so. I mean i loved playing Mordheimw ti my friends! And i wanted to play inquisitor/battlefleet gothic sometime, but i could never find anyone who played it or were willing to buy models for it when i'd be their only opponent in it. Mebob votes for specialist games to make a popular comeback!! |

thats a point as the specaist games have been in decline the only one you tend to see at my club on an occasain is blood bowl. also have they been cutting back on battle fleet gothic as i dont think there doing that big box anymore. |

*supports the idea of more Specialist Games*... ![]() Unfortunately, for the next two years (at least, though it'll likely end up to be much more) Fanatic will no longer be producing new models, which means the chances of Games Workshop promoting Specialist Games more to be close to zero. Greetz |
