Yes, indeed. That's why my army consist entirely of grav tanks and swooping hawks. :)

And guardians. Just because you have to have SOMETHING inside the tanks.
(and guardians are damn cute.)

SQUEAK!

Could be translated as:
Orks for the fun, 'Nids for the horde and Eldar for the awesomeness ;)

I strongly advice against chaos (not only because I'm an Eldar player) as their new codex is rubbish.
Yes I know, lot's of people will stab me for this, but i really think chaos has been given a good beating now.
No more greater daemons dedicated to the four gods, the same with lesser daemons... and that's really what I've always thought was the difference between the loyalists and the traitors: Daemons!

I do pity them... but as there's still a good deal of chaos players out there, they can't be entirely broken ^^

whatever you chose, have fun and good luck though ;)

The new Ork Codex will be out this January, and it is fantastic. Orks are going to be extremely powerful and characterful this time around, and the new models are so beautifully Orky.

And if you need further konvincin' I highly recommend playing Dawn of War, if just to see and hear how the Orks operate.

Orks! Orks! Orks! Orks!

Waaagh!

I play Tau ^_^ .

The reason why I started them was because I was able to get a box of kroot for half-price when one of the local game shops went out of business. I figured that because the other store I went to was running out of fantasy players, I'd need to start on a 40k army eventually anyway and the kroot always looked cool to me.

After doing some research I quickly found out that I'd need regular Tau troops as well if I was ever to win a battle. This bummed me out because initially I didn't really like the feel of the actual 'tau' models. Still, I spent some time working on my other armies and when the time was right, considered making a few tau lists again. It was at that time that I found out how versatile and fun to play a balanced tau list really was and that I only had to buy 3 other boxes to make a functional 1k list. Putting my doubts aside I just went for it and bought, assembled and undercoated the whole bunch at once. After playing a few games (most of which I actually won!!) I felt confident that this was a fun army for me.

All in all my choice for Tau has been an epic tale of perseverance and indecisiveness and, apart from the fact that I think they are both conceptually very original and well-executed races, had nothing to do with my choice for skaven whatsoever  .

Oh well, now alll that's left is to find me some more motivation for painting all those Tau  .

Kroot are where it's at, the Tau are holding them back :P

I'd suggest trying out the Kroot Merc rules, found on the GW website. It's a very characterful army, if a bit difficult to use. Plus, you can use them as allies in other armies. All infiltrating space chickens ftw!

Although Orks and Skaven are riduculously differant (such as the differant time period and all :P ) they are also quite similar. Crazy Ork Engineer build (or loot) crazy techno tankies while skryre engineers steal and then build crazy techno gunzies. Conviving warlords fight amongst themselves and well, conviving (but furry) warlords fight amongst them selves. Tons of green skins, tons of brown furs. I mean, I could go on, but you get it, Orks and Skaven are like margerine and butter. Differant, but taste completely the same :D

They are similar in terms of background and overall style, but the 40k and Fantasy systems are so different you'll be playing two very different forces.

Plus, Orks and Skaven will make your bitz box very shallow very quickly :D

I think my favourite is the Shokk attack gun... which can accidently fire you Ork Big Mek across the battlefield into contact with the enemy you were shooting at.

The 40k army I would most love to play is the Witch Hunters.

An Inquisitor slowly striding along the battlefield, clensing those he deams unworthy with his flamer pistol as his retinue of techno-crusaders sheild him from incoming fire... some Seraphim Sisters of Battle jetting above him and raining down their holy death... Exorcist battle tanks shelling the enemy to pieces in a sweet organ symphony as played by a head Sister... the Culexus Assassin, radiating a psykic void and able to send a man insane with the smallest of glances.... and to fill in the gaps, he has called in the Imperial Guardsmen of the Death Corp of Kreig, with their WWII reminiscent styling and gas masks, willing to die a thousand times for their God Emperor...

...and then there is the whole mysterious backstory about them, the certain semi-heretical sects such as my favourite, the Thorians, who scour the galaxy for the reincarnation of the Emperor.

I guess the main attration, and most Skaven-y aspect is all the political in-fighting and clever manipulation of legal and moral loopholes they apply to their way of life.

Also, they have damn cool hats.

[Mutate] Ah hah! 100th post!
