I have recently been trying to choose an army to play in 40k and am unable to choose so i got wondering, What is the most common choice for skaven generals in 40k

just post wich army you chose, why you chose it and wether it has anything to do with the skaven being your choice for fantasy and we'll see if theres a common factor

Having read the new Ork book, I would go with Orks... Weapons the blow up in spectacular ways and hordes of Orks... + lots of mad contraptions that are just thrown together... why not do an army of furry Orks.

The Mad Ratter.

I, like many I'd imagine, started out as a humble "know-nothing" gamer in 40k because all my friends played 40k. They all played Space Marines (Ultramarines, Chaos and Dark Angles) so I naturally believed that Space Marines were the only army in the game, and so I started out with Space Wolves.

I moved onto Eldar later, if it's worth anything.

There's just something about 40k that really annoys me... It's the fluff, more than anything else. I don't sympathise with any of the armies out there! Except for The Lost and the Damned. They actually look pretty fun. :P

Witch hunters.

I love their fluff and models. Soemthing about the fact that they are "humanities first lines of defence against all threats within" and the fact that if you scratch the surface of the fluff you start going into all the dakr and hypocritcal and contridicting details of them.

And how the difference bettween a heretic and a saint is just who's name youfight for.

If you want to hold on to the horde of evil things of DOOM (or somthing in that line), witch will be swarming your oppontent and win with static combat res (for as much as that is possible in 40k). Go with the tyranids. They were the first and only reason for me to play 40 k :lol: . (personally all the other races did not appeal to me)

Also the fluff is nice.. " The tyranids represent an unavoidable end for the universe"

You will have a lot of options to convert and the models are just sweet as hell.
+ they are easy to paint ;) . I painted my army in decent quallity in no time (conpared to other army's (like dark elfs, skaven too though).

Hrud. :rolleyes: No really though - it would be Tyranids if you were a horde army fan (ie: Skaven, Moria Goblins ). Tyranids are one of the few units in 40k that are... well... actually good in close combat.

Personally though, I would stick with Fantasy and play with Skaven. :P Though if forced to play 40k I would be either Tyranids (1st choice), Space Wolves (2nd choice), or the Catachan Fighter guys (can't remember name).

Officially Awesome
My army in WH40K is Necrons first, though my winning streak with them is... non existant (though that's due to my own playing skills then anything else) my next army is going to be Space Orks, starting out as a normal horde then going Kult of Speed.

If I had to make another? I would probably go... either Chaos or Tyranids.

Quiet, I'm plotting.

i have a Chaos Space Marine army. It is rather small, and I haven't added anything to it in years, but it is certainly there.

1st choice: tau {cause kroot are cool}

2nd choice: imperial guard {love the infantry models}

3rd choice: space marines {just because of the variation in paint schemes}

NOTE : these are IF i played 40K :)

SQUEAK!

Could be translated as:

Craftworld Eldar!
Awesome models, awesome painting oportunities, Awesome speed and awesome weapons!

But I have to agree with the above poster that orks probably would be the most skavenish army in 40K :rolleyes:

Cheers!

Dabbling GM. Clanrat loon. 6th Edition Aficionado. Bitter.

Imperial guard infantry company, here...

The problem is that I don't actually use the army now, because of my low, low, low, low, low, low, low, low opinion of 40k gameplay... Until I find the time/motivation to modify the rules to my own ends, I'll probably keep avoiding 40k in favour of fantasy...

Make sure you enjoy 40k before investing too much time and money... ;)

I've got almost a Company's worth of Dark Angels, and will be looking to start Orks when the new Codex comes out.

I like green :huh:

Orks are very Skaven-like with their blatant disregard for safety of life and limb, plus green is best.

SQUEAK!

Could be translated as:

I started playing warhammer 40k a couple of years ago and today I have about 2.5-3K's worth of pointy ears and about 700pts. of evil pointy ears. But I have grown more and more anoyed of how GW has simplyfied the rules.
No to hit modifiers, no individual movement ratings, no armour modifiers and every --[untranslateable]-- new unit gets rending!

That's why I'm trying to start up a skaven army now :P

Still, I do recomend 40K as the models are stunning, the grav tanks and aspect warriors of Eldar in particular... but the rules? ...meh.

Cheers!
