i recently got a new job (yay for me - lots more money to spend on anything i want) however it has meant moving away from my wife and kids as commuting really isnt an option (74 miles each way) now i find im either at the GW at work or in my bed with alcohol... that sad thing is that even though i miss my wife and kids i almost prefer the freedom of living away although it gets awfully depressing sometimes... have to find something else to do as im starting to loose the will to live...
Daniel cannot possibly exist in a dimensional state.

Recent studies show that people who have attempted to comprehend Daniel have either disappeared, died spontaneously, or driven themselves into a pertinent state of insanity and/or catatonia.

in my bed with alcohol...

Ah, one of my favourite things. There are a couple of things I like more, though. With alcohol playing XBox, or with alcohol with my mic and bass plugged into the comp and belting out a rude and inappropriate tune.

Now for something helpful. Try painting. Not minis, just get some cheap canvas' or art board and go to town. One of my things to do when bored. There is also writing, excerise, cooking or making presents for your family for when you visit.

When I'm depressed I always try to exercise. My favorite has to be gym workout, or punching bag routine.

Apart from that, painting miniatures while watching movies, cartoons, and anime is my favorite pastime, although I have to have seen them before. I can't stand watching a new movie while painting and miss the details.

Ofcourse, going through forums also takes up so much of one's time........

Back to retirement!

That sucks man... I kind of know how you feel as my long-term girlfriend recently moved to Japan for a 6 month working holiday, leaving me to live by myself... I was initially in a very bad place, but Ive found a few things that help.
Alcohol is a good start, but spending time with friends is much better. Since she left, Ive been spending heaps of time away from home at friends houses or even at GW hanging out and having games. Just keeping busy, so my mind doesnt linger on the lonliness. Also, if you are stuck at home, grab some movies or a good TV series so you have something else to focus on. Finally, on weekends go out and drink or party with a few friends. Its much better than staying in and drinking by yourself (though things can go bad. I broke my wrist at a party 2 weeks ago).
I also find that the freedom does feel good from time to time, but ultimately I would prefer to have her back... The key is to keep busy, and keep your mind off it. How long until you will be able to rejoin your family? Keep a rough count of the days left, but dont linger on it, because then it will seem to take even longer.

All the best man. I know its difficult, but try to enjoy yourself, and remember, eventually you will be able to see your family again. Hope all goes well :)

Just hang in there, and keep telling yourself that it's just for the money, once you have that you can head home. Is there a reason your family can't join you? Or you can attempt to commute. 74 miles ain't too bad, that's 120 km, that's about an hour and a half on the road. Or get skype.

I don't think I've ever had a girlfriend who lives in the same state as I do. Which is odd, because it's not like I met them online. We all just seem to never be in the same state when we actually do start dating. Or maybe they were trying to flee. Maybe I should start wondering.
