Baldrics and Cloaks; random thought

A random thought that got me vey perplexed: ok, so we have a fellow wearing a quiver or a sword slung on his back, where it hangs from a baldric that's worn across the chest. Now, let's put a cloak on him as well. Now, how does it all go together? You can't wear the cloak over the baldric because it's going to just drape all over your sword/quiver and get in the way, but wearing your baldric over the cloak means your cloak's kinda tied by the baldric to your torso. Which makes sense if you don't want it flapping in the wind, but now you can't wrap the cloak around yourself when it's cold. You also can't do dramatic poses with the cloak flapping in the wind too.

So I had a look first at medieval bowmen, but they all seemed too poor to afford cloaks. So I looked at Legolas, who has not only a quiver but two swords strapped onto the cloak. But they never seem to be there whenever he's got the cloak wrapped around himself, and his cloak never seems to flap all that much, even when floating around horses. Disappointed with Legolas, I turned to warhammer wood elves, who have nicely flapping cloaks, but I noticed something rather odd: their quivers are moulded straight onto their cloaks!!! Pray tell, how does one manage to fix their quiver onto their cloak, not to mention the difficulty it would cause trying to use both cloak and quiver now. <_< Some of them wear baldrics, yes, but on the inside of their cloaks, and to hold their daggers. There's not a wood-elf I could see with a flapping cloak and a quiver realistically slung onto his back.

ok, got that out of my system.

What you do is have the straps/baldric inside the cloak, and the attachment point for your scabbard/quiver (which hangs from a single high point on the strap/baldric) above the cloak, so that the object hangs outside...

Mostly harmless

That does make sense. With a quiver, would it be a problem if the quiver swings freely? With a sword the weight and length should hold it in place, but with a quiver I imagine it might become quite awkward. Also, if the quiver goes on the outer side of the cloak, you can't pull it over your shoulders, you can put it on the inside of the cloak (between cloak and necK), but it won't work with a hooded cloak.

I did a quick google image search and medieval replica quivers seem usually attached to the strap on both ends for wearing on the back, but contemporary sports archers actually wear their quiver at the hip.

I'm not actually planning to wear a cloak and quiver for daily use btw, just very curious to find a workable solution.

Just take Blade's example
...Okay so you can't actually see it in that picture but what he does (at least in the movies) is he cuts a little hole in the top of his coat so he can reach his blade underneath. Though then you can't really have the hood I guess
