I thought there was a minesweeper thread on here a while ago but i couldn't find it. Maybe it was a different forum. anywho... Incredibly bored today, miserable weather for the bike sooo.. the highlight of my day off from work is my new minesweeper speed record! 5 seconds on beginner beating my previous record of 13 seconds. I suppose that 5 seconds could have been better spent painting my army... or anything else for that matter. Proof! ![]() Whats your record? Acrux |

So you just clicked very fast at random places for hours until it gave you an impressive score? Yeah, better spent on painting...

I CAN play Minesweeper for hours.... that's the sad part. ![]() My record for a custom game is 1 second (yay for 5 mines on a 64 by 64 grid), but on beginner mine is currently 4. Mwahahaha! But Congratz.... and skavenguy, Minesweeper IS, contrary to popular belief, not just clicking random buttons. (after the first few random clicks, that is...)Pillz |

I'm pretty sure I've only ever finished a game of minesweeper once, and that was back when I had a computer with Windows 3.1 Now... if we talked about high scores for Solitaire... |

Hey, you mean I'm not the only one to have done that ?! I like minesweeper. The board is small and a lot easier to hide at work compared with Pinball

I know, I played a lot long ago, when computers didn't all come with CD drivers and stuff. On a side note, I miss Wolfenstein and Red Baron ![]() But I remember sometimes I just went on and clicked madly, randomly, in that beginner level, to see how fast/if I would win |

Lolz, I get to bring my laptop with me ... I could play anything at work ... but I just stick to Chess @ Lunch ... Macs come with Chess ... so does Linux ... Linux & Mac > Windows Btw, for those of you who don't know how to play minesweeper, it works like these. -You win if you successfully uncover all non-bomb squares -You lose if you click on a bomb square -Non-bomb squares are number squares or empty squares, the numbers represent how many bomb squares are adjacent (diagonal counts) to that number square -In expert difficulty, you have to use the right-click to set "?"s to help you look ahead to "if this one was a bomb, then that one would/wouldn't be ..." etc. a few squares ... it's not the fastest difficulty but it requires the most thought, thus my favorite. |

@SneakyRodent tsk tsk tsk, game at work? lol I would to but we don't have computers in the kitchen. I like the expert setting the best as well but most of the time it seems to get to a point where you have to guess. And of course you usually guess wrong. So I'm usually only good for a couple games before I get too agrivated to play any more. Acrux |

Sebrent, Have you ever tried teh chess variations on your mac? They are tough! Once you get used to playing chess one way it is very difficult to play in an alternate manner - such as actually trying to lose all your pieces first (loser or suicide), or have the ability to insert pieces you've killed as your own. They can be a fun change of pace, and still a mental workout. I used to love minesweeper. There was a way that you could click to get uncover multiple spaces at a time (once you had guessed where all the bombs were next to that piece. That really speeds up your time. I only ever won a few times on expert. There is always a mistake to be made. <_< |

@Rusty: Yeah, I LOVE the variations. The computer is friggin GOOD though. The one where you can place a piece you've taken anywhere on the board instead of moving a piece is a mind-trip at times. My laptop kicks my butt more often than not in that version. |

Well, I've done minesweeper for quite some time and my best times are: - Beginner: 9 seconds - Intermediate: 53 seconds - Expert: 158 seconds In the end, there are some tricks to speed up the time you'll end on, but going below 10 seconds with beginner is simply a matter of clicking some fields rapidly and hope you don't blow yourself up. (GEE, for some reason, saying that almost makes me think this was a game invented by Skryre engineers who were working on a new maze for their test subjects). Greetz |
