Not sure if anyone is interested, but in the cricket Steve Harmisson has got a new knick-name. Grevious Bodily Harmisson. He's caught at least 3 west indies players with the ball now. Chris Gayle copped a 90mph ball on the end of his thumb, between ball and bat. Ouch! WI's look like they will soon be all out nad England will have the rest of the day to score the 80 odd runs they need (as it stands) to win.

@Scar - I'm keeping a discreet eye on the cricket thanks to BBC Sports - are we that good or are the Windies (bar Chanderpaul) that bad? We actually look like we could snatch the unlikeliest of victories here...... |

Well English cricket has been on the up since the world cup. I think we've started to get a great team together now! The WI's have been on the down for a while. Even more so since Lara left, sadly. We've got way more batting depth with Collingwood in form and the addition of Alistair Cook (who is annoying good looking <_<). Ian Bell has been performing as well. Our bowling attack has got some real 'mongrel' to it, as the BBC commentators would say. Yes i'm keeping an eye on it too. Harmisson looks scary when he's good. Sidebottom is a good swing bowler as is Hoggard. A 3-0 series win for us looks on the cards. ![]() I don't think we'll have it so easy in India in July though. ![]() The Windies are doing ok in area's. Edwards is a scary bowler. Good stuff. Their batting is being held up by three players at the moment. Bravo and Gayle, mostly Bravo. And the ever present Chanderpaul. We've not got him out for over 1000 succesive minutes at the crease now! Impressive. You've got to take your hat off to the guy. He's the heart and soul of the west indian team now. I think they'd be mad if they didn't make him captain soon. They've got a LOT of rebuilding to do, but i'd never right them off. The one days and 20twenty ones are going to be great. I hope England play Ravi Bophara again. He was great in the world cup. He got a 200 for his county recently too.

Yep! We need 110 runs to win. Should be do-able, we just need to keep the run rate up. I'd put Matt Prior in as 2nd or 3rd batsmen with Cook. Neither of them hang about. ![]() I think Chanderpaul has got to be a big bet for player of the series. He's made 6 half centuries in a row.

Average of 148.66 That would be impressive at any level, but against England in the team he is, that is bloody fantastic.

Point proven. Proceed to rip me to shreds at will, and then prepare to be laughed at as we nick AJ. *sighs* Have we come to stealing strikers from small clubs like Everton... We'll end up like United... With any luck... |

I'm genuinely shocked Not so much by Henry's departure, but for just £16m. These days that strikes me as very low, especially when you consider Charlton's £17m evaluation of Darren Bent. (And yes, before anyone mentions it I think the price of top players is utterly obscene, but that's a seperate discussion). The Premiership is a poorer place for Henry's absence, that is for sure. Believe it or not Scratch I really feel for Arsenal at the moment - they've always played entertaining football and for that have my respect. I just fear that now the first half of my prediction has come true that the bit about losing Wenger may come to pass too. This all seems to stem from losing Dein - just what is the issue here ? His leaving seems to have really destabilised the club. As for AJ - keep your hands off! Though we could offer you a decent deal on Beattie if you ask nicely

Beatie.... Oh how the mighty would have fallen... And yeah. Arsenal have been in transition ever since the Unbeaten run (capital "U" is required there), the Emirates was constructed so that we could compete with our rivals on a financial level. At that time, we were facing a relitivly even competition, and the rivals we were trying to out do were United. Abramovic effectivly screwed the enitre project over, because while we will be able to compete with United in the next few years (and surpass them, they have to pay off £60m/year of debts that they never had before thanks to the Glazers) we can't compete with Chelsea. The Dein thing is weird. Way back when, just after we'd got Wenger and won the double (I started supporting a year before, where we just scraped the UEFA cup and celebrated like we'd won the league), when the Emirates as in conception, Dein wanted to move us into the new Wembly (when it was done) wheras another board member was behind a new Arsenal only ground. Dein lost that battle and has been more and more peripheral ever since. The thing with Kronke must have just pushed the board over the edge. He used to sort out all our transfers and contract negotiations, but was also heavily involved in the political bits of the club (G14 etc). He apparently is also best mates with all the players (his son was Henry's best man apparently) so sorting out new contracts for everyone became easy, if expensive (Ljungberg is on £70,000 a week. 70 grand a week, for a squad player!), to the point where we're now letting people go on frees so that other clubs can use that money to pay the wage. He got kicked out over the Kronke thing and (although I reckon henry was planning to go since everything fell apart in February), on top of the once great Paddy Viera stirring up as much bugger as he can, we're being portrayed as unstable. That isn't why Henry has left, but the departure can only fuel that. On top of Wenger's undecided future, it may be hard to attract the sort of player we need to replace Henry, and that's when we start getting over taken by clubs like Villa with money to burn. And yeah, the price tag hurts, especially when £35m was being bandied arround last year. HOWEVER, we'll make that back on saved wages (£120,000 a week is FAR too much to pay anyone at all, even in the skewed world of football, and even Henry). We're saving ourselves roughly *whips out calculator* £15m provided the new guy's wages arn't excessive, which covers it up to £30m. And yes, the numbers are CRAZY. £30k a week is considered rock bottom in the premiership, while the average yearly wage is below that. And not every player signed up for "Mayday for nurses" *shakes head in disbelief*. As a side note: Don't kid yourself that if we go in for AJ and have the money that he's staying Blue. There were rumours in January that he doesn't like it as much Oop North as down here, so you may well make a profit on him but you'll almost certainly loose him if we go in for him. Liverpool need strikers too, although knowing Everton they'd try and saboutage their title ambitions by sending them James Beatie in disguise. It'd work, too

*Thredomances* England are doing well in ODIs! OK, it's against the Windies, but still, it's a miracle! That Broad chap looks the business. Went to Wimbledon after work yesterday and, in short, got pissed on. I saw about 3 games from 3 different matches in 3 hours <_< And W00t for Eduardo. Arsene is the man. |

AW has gone and done it again..... Eduardo Da Silva for £10m (not £16m like zagreb claim). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nREh1bD0HsY I had a feeling he would never pay over the odds for any player who has “proven themselves” i.e. Torres: 27.1m (haha your still gonna finish fourth). 16m ish for Bent (scuse me but you jews got ripped off big styley – the only thing this signing will achieve is annoy 2 out of 3 strikers as only one can partner Berbatov, oh yeah and you will finish fifth at best). Tevez will be priced at over 25m (looks like your staying at West Ham sunny unless Real Madrid show the money, and they don’t exactly need you – thus we are the only possible suitors in the premiership, well …. not anymore). Martins 13m (erm exactly when is your date of birth? … to much baggage for that sort of money). Owen £INSERT RIDICULOUS FIGURE HERE (Kolo Toure has played more games in one season than you have in four, therefore if we divide your transfer fee and wages (100k what?) by 4 that’s roughly how much your really worth). If only every other manager had to be as responsible with their money as AW then we would win everything hands down…. Oh yeah scratch it looks like AW is going after Bakari Sagna (21 from Auxerre) as his only other transfer for strengthening the defence – he is completely versatile – but is best at right back. PS. I put £50 on Silva at 20-1 to be the top scorer in the premiership. One things for sure.... ill be laughing all the way to the bank in May 2008. |
| So I'm attacking your slaves with 5 chosen knights **throws dices** and horses **throws more dices** ok you are at -9 to Ld there is no way ...** a dice throw** .... F@@k ! | |

Owen's £9m apparently, that's not the problem, his wages are. Martins would still be a good buy, especially if we get pooped on with injuries like last season. Even so, Walcott's just as quick and although not as powerful can fill in well. TBH, I reckon we've got the cover this year. If RVP's injured we can switch to a potentially devastating 4-5-1 (Left to right midfield: Eduardo, Fabregas Rosicky, Gilberto, *Right winger*) About Sanga: I reckon AW's got a plan for this chap or we're not going to buy him. Eboue and Hoyte both have long term deals and £6m for a reserve player doesn't sound like his tactics. Converted right winger perhaps (or maybe convert Eboue to RW), and leave Hleb and Rosicky to their international (number 10) positions. I'm still not convinced by Hleb. He ranged from effective to awful last season and still doesn't shoot enough. He's certainly not a RW in the mould of the old Ljungberg and he has a phobia of beating a Left Back down the line, getting to the byline and sticking a cross in. With players like Ade and Eduardo, that sort of delivery is going to be far more critical that when we had Henry. God bless his little cotton socks but I reckon Freddie's past it. Last season he lost a lot of his goals, but could still break his foot and skin Belleti in the CL final. This season he seems to have lost a lot of pace. With 2 main features of his game gone, I think his usefulness is gone. Shame, great player. |

We got Jagielka. Oh well. A handy utility player I suppose; ironic that he played for us many years ago and we let him go. Still, at least we've finally got shot of Richard Wright

 And I know how you feel about Wright. Nice bloke, tries his best, poor bugger just ain't good enough. Speaking of players let go, In this month's FourFourTwo they conclude their look at youth development with England (God help us). We produce the most premiership players, behind Boro, that go on to make regular first team starts in Premiership clubs, and yet only one plays for us. Admittedly, players like Sidwell and Harper aren't in our league (well technically they are, but that's a mere statistical anomaly), but it does go to show that even the second most productive acadamy in the country can't produce genuine champions league material these days. The last world class one we had was Cashly... Mind you, your mob are still raking in the money from charming old Roo, so youth development isn't much of a problem ![]() EDIT: The world is a better place. |
