I've always wondered a little, that instead of a Rare Choice Eshin Triad, if you could use three Hero Choice Assassins (I realise people probably just wouldn't- it's common sense!) in a "unit". With no rank and file models. They wouldn't be "hidden" or anything. I also realise you could just clump three lone assassins in the same place and move/charge them together. Actually, I was just wondering that- my real issue is: In my last game, Tomb Kings vs. Lizardmen, three Kroxigors charged in the flank and smashed up my entire unit of skeletons through hits and combat res, leaving my three characters (Prince, Icon Bearer and Priest) alone, but still in the smashed "unit." Since they're all undead, they obviously won't run. BUT the three characters were left formed up in a front "rank" charged from the flank. ARE they still a unit? If they're not, can I "charge" the Icon Bearer into the kroxigors, and move the Priest out of harms way? Usually it probably wouldn't matter, but the kroxigors were my opponent's last unit, and the three characters were my last (ignoring a one wound swarm way out on the edge of the board). So there was nobody else to get ivolved in the combat. I assume this comes up reasonably often with Tomb Kings- it probably will for me, anyway, as all my characters are in one unit of archers- and nobody will ever run. ps. There IS nowhere else for my characters, really. My only other units are 3 swarms and a Tomb Scorpion. It seems like a poor choice of army, I admit- but I've played 3 games and not lost a single one! Go flukes!

First, yes, they were still a unit, and only Skaven characters are capable of leaving a unit that is in combat. NOw, if they were no longer in combat, then they could "leave the group." Second, if you're in combat, you have flanks ... even if you're a lone character. |

Ah, I meant that if they weren't still a unit, could the two characters not in base to base combat (and not in the combat unit) leave and do other things. It ended up like: Kroxigor, Tomb Prince, Icon Bearer, Liche Priest. Kroxigor Kroxigor So if they weren't a unit, the Icon Bearer and Liche Priest might not be in combat. I'm still not sure on the more complex rules for combat in Warhammer, and this is one of the ones that confused me. In that case, can you voluntarily put characters into "units" with no rank and file soldiers? |

If all three characters were in the same unit, and that unit got flanked by the kroxigors and reduced to just those 3 characters, then those 3 characters are still "in the unit" and they are all three still "in combat." Thus, they can not leave "the unit" and they are "flanked" |
