Aye, I agree with Nurglitch. Like Chaos, we aren't natural in the world the Old Ones designed ... but that's where it stops. Chaos and everyone else are merely pawns and food for our race. Since on the subject of making another army. Take it from someone who couldn't stick with an army for the life of him (when I was younger ... and almost when I got tired of clanrat tails, lol) You'll enjoy the hobby a lot more if you build up at least 2,000 pts with one race before starting other races. And if you look at that 10,000 Orc & Goblins army, you may become inspired. One of the great things about Skaven, Orcs & Goblins, and other horde armies is that a lot of models can come in handy as you it gives you a TON of swapping opportunites since our troops are so cheap and many more options for gaming scenarios (see HUGE battles and sieges). It's also nice for campaigns. |

I've played all of them in my time, but my fave has to be Tzeentch. It boils down to seeing what really lies in the heart of each. Khorne is the big dumb thug running around hitting any other kid within range. Nurgle is the disgusting pimply grot with a tendency to fart in class (and reduce his classmates to laughter). Slaanesh is the kid who slinks off to the toilets to play with himself, and who is the first to introduce any willing peers to his collection of smut & chemical addictives. Tzeentch, otoh, is the really clever kid who somehow manages to relate to all of the above, and who while convincing the teacher that he's his/ her pet has really, quietly, and insidiously reduced the classroom into a state of total and utter anarchy and (dare I say it?) chaos. To the point that when the school inevitably burns down, it is Tzeentch who made it so (even though he may not have applied the actual match). I also regard Tzeentch armies as the most challenging to play, so that only enhances their appeal  . |

Officially Awesome

I chose Khorne for pretty much all the reasons already stated before. It's that crazy, insane bloodlust of theirs, its so extreme its kind of humorous, any one who has heard the Khorne Bezerkers in Dawn of War: Dark Crusade would know what I mean. If I had to chose seconds I would probably chose Slaanesh, for the single simple fact that they were the only team to use something as insanely cool as Noise Marines! Ahh I want some.

Exactly! I got introduced to Warhammer trough Dawn of War, and hearing the aspiring champion literally scream their allegiance to Chaos and laugh like madmen just makes me all warm inside.

I do realize that, but as Serbrent said, the similarities stop there. .......and I have a feeling that the Horned Rat is also classified as a chaos god too. So in hindsight I should've said the Horned Rat . But yeah I realized you meant the four gods of Chaos, so forget what I said. <_<

The horned rat is NOT a chaos god. The closest he will ever be is an extremly powerfull daemon. Now, as he isn't a daemon ethier he's just a spirit created by the rats MUTATED from warpstone. It might even be so that the horned rat IS a god, that used the warpstone to create a race for him. And god no hes not nurgle like some mad man stated before on the forum (hang him...) |

Chaos gods are supposedly created when what they represent gathers up in a huge storm in the warp, because a lot of people are feeding them with their feelings. The Hornet represents decay, Machiavellian schemes and ambition. Since the Skaven vastly outnumber all other races, I'd say he most likely has enough followers to be sentient, and thus to be an actual chaos god. Besides, he appeared before the council of 13. So he's at least a demon. With all the followers he has, he's most likely a god. Who knows: perhaps important rats miraculously manage to avoid assassination and the traps laid before them by their enemies because the Horned Rat subtly helps them? |

That one I belive. Compared to the other Chaotic beings The Horned Rat is much more subtle in the gifts he gives than the four main Gods; we don't just pray to him and -bang- end up with apples for eye balls. He wishes to materialize in this world though even his own nature holds him back and he activly supports all of our in fighting and backstabbing and so when he does help us it seems to be with the slightest push in the right direction (or wrong) towards Inheritance. That's one of the things that makes him so neat is that he essentially leaves it up to us to do what's best for Skaven kind, if we listen to his urgings or try to do things our own way. Each Skaven know this deep down as well and that's why we so ferverently pray and worship him, because he's so fickle that if/when we do get his help we may not even know it. |

Horned Rat for supreme deity ==My== favorite Chaos God has been and will always be Papa Nurgle. While he and his followers look nasty to outsiders, they truly are the happiest of all the Chaos warriors. Nurgle gives his children gifts and encourages them to share with others. Nurgle personified hopelessness, resignation, and decay. A true follower of Nurgle has accepted his position and grows to enjoy it, which is why Nurgle is referred to as Grandfather Nurgle or Papa Nurgle. Ever since I learned about the Death Guard in 40k, Nurgle's always appealed to ==Me== as a tragic but happy (paradoxical eh? Such is the nature of Chaos) figure. Plus, who doesn't love Nurglings

The slight problem with this, is that unless you're a master converter or using lots of witch-elf models or fielding a pure daemon army, is that the mortal Chaos models are all grubby, beefy males. And if you've got some marauders in your army list, then you've got grubby, bearded, half-naked, beefy males. I don't think putting those blokes in thigh-high boots and a corset was the sort of look I'd like for my army.

| You kids these days have it so easy, what with your Plague Furnaces and your Hellpit Abominations and your Bonebreaker Warlords. Back in MY day, all we had was Slaves and Clanrats!...and auto-hit Ratling Guns...and skirmishing Jezzails...and 2D6 Warp Lightning...and Lead From The Back...wait, what was my arguement again? | |
