I have heard so much about the Border Princes, but I have never seen any stats for them. Who are they? Are there models for them? Are they part of the Empire? |

I do believe that it's just a troubled land, south of the Empire and west of Ekrund, not owned by any nation in particular (though it's technically Brettonian - they conqured it first). The reason that the border princes is so popular is because it's completely feasible for any armies to be there, be they Chaos Daemons, Skaven or Tomb Kings or anyone else. They are, in essence, just a land with small amounts of every fraction in it. So, the stats for the People of the border princes would just be any army book, I suppose. |

Clan Sever- Live in Fear

@ Lord Lughtigern, your signature pic got messed up I think- it did that to me a few times too. @ drrat- that confused me for like a month. But yes, as Lord Lughtigern said, the Border Princes is actually and area where essentially all sorts of random people have their own little atounomous countries. If you are exciled from the Empire, you take your followers there and set up your own country. The border princes princes (?) are constantly warring with each other. In the Warhammer 6th Rulebook this area was used as a campaign style game- each player took control of a little country and tried to dominate. IT would be great fun but unfortunately hard to do in practice. |

It's pretty much where the Dogs of War call home, mostly covering Tilea and Estalia and all that crazy area. Mostly their a bunch of Princedoms that would cover a single city state but their are a few republic cities that are more run by mercants and the like such as Tobaro. |

border princes is a stretch of land running just south of the worlds edge mountains, by the badlands. Theres not much about it because no actual army originates from there |

I am sure I have read the rules for an empire character, I can't remember if it is in the new book or in one of the annuals but it describes him as being on of the border princes. |

i always thought of it as just being the home of the DoW, same as tilea and estalia. so, i guess pikemen/a regiment of renown would fit the bill nicely. that, or an army made up of empire militia and pistoleers lol |

*grabs the old maps*... The Border Princes is a region of land that lies south of the Black Mountains (the mountain range that connects the Vaults with the World Edge Mountains) and has no central government. So, many 'rogue' knights indeed create their own little principalities there, but the lands are at the same time heavily plagued by Orcs and Goblins... And to correct some before me, it is not the same as Tilea and Estalia, as both these regions are far (FAR) to the west. Greetz |

East of the World Edge Mountains is the Dark Lands, which is the sole property of the Chaos Dwarves... The Border Princes is west of the World Edge Mountains at app. the same 'height' on the map as the Vaults. Greetz |

The Black Mountains is the name given to the mountain range that stretches from the south of Tilea all the way to the lands of the Dwarves. South of that range is according to my information the Border Princes. (It's where Barak Varr is located). Greetz |

the border princes are not a type of unit or character for the game, they are an region in the warhammer world. Sure it didnt say he was from the border princes? a prince OF the border princes? I dont know, the only army with playable princes in is elves (i think..) and they all come from their elfie lands, not the border princes. I suggest you post on here whatever it is you read so we can better understand what your getting at

While the region is called the Border Princes, I believe it's named after the people who control it or once controlled it, loosely classified as the Border Princes. The other less commonly used name IIRC is the Lands of the Renegade Crowns, and this more accurately reflects the society of this land: self-titled princes*, lordlings, warring city states and bandit-controlled lands. In the RPG resources, the name is supposedly derived from a bunch of empire nobles who left/was exiled from the empire, and originally claimed the region as their own. Timelines tend to give the region a pseudo-greek history, probably because their spot on the map matches real world Greece, though in present time they resemble the italians and spanish more. There is no standard army list for them because there are no standard armies. It's a bunch of humans from petty kingdoms being mostly militia or DoW mercenaries, constantly fighting each other and all sorts of other races, though greenskins feature prominently. There is no real society or established government amongst the Border Princes. *By princes here I believe they do not refer to sons of kings, but rather the rulers of city states, much like the Prince of Verona in Romeo & Juliet. |
