I went for both, at very first my friend who played (and i think still does) 40k took me to games workshop where i got a starter paint set with 5 space marines and paints. I enjoyed painting them, but it was just as much fun when we played a few games (i borrowed his models).

After this i soon learned about fantasy and got hooked on it ever since after giving up 40k for my prefered game, and of course skaven the master race (skaven)

I see lead people
I've always been good at tactics games. My friends have been into FPS games and I always wanted to be the one to tell these guys where to go and what to do when they get there. Can't do that with video games (and probably never will). I also was very much into painting miniatures (mostly Reaper) for my tabletop D&D games, (of course I was the DM) so when I found out I could combine tactical wargaming with mini painting, I jumped at it.

What attracted me was the hobby aspect, but I sure can't wait to get an actual game going!

I first heard of table top gaming through Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War (buy it, the Emperor demands it!). I bought some tyranids but I realised that all the table top players in my area were playing Warhammer fantasy, so I switched to the equivalent of the tyranids, a horde army with good leadership : the Skaven.

Well at least they have great leadership until, you know, the general is running with his tail between his legs. #gs#
